CASE 1

A new medical technologist is assigned to the microbiology section of the laboratory. He


performed antimicrobial susceptibility testing on 2-day old Staphylococcus aureus culture from the
BAM. He got his inoculum from the cluster of growth resembling a streaking pattern. He suspended
the inoculum in TSB and standardized it using 1.0 McFarland. He inoculated on Nutrient Agar plate
using an overlap streaking pattern. After inoculation, he incubated the plate at 37 0C for reading after
24 hours.

ERRORS SOLUTION/S
1. Performing on a 2 day old Subculture
Staphylococcus aureus
2. Inoculating from a cluster of growth Repeat inoculating from the isolated
culture.
3. Standardization in a 1.0 McFarland Repeat Standardization
4. Temperature of incubation Sit in room temperature
