Final Exam - Lessons and exercises from the whole school year.

Question paper pattern:


1. Reading Comprehension:
 A passage from Grade 5 Text book / Exercise book will be given. Students
are expected to read the passage and understand with clarity and answer
given questions in writing.
 Questions will be in any of the following formats:
 Write the correct answer (Answers should be in full sentences)
 Multiple choice
 True/false
 Choose the correct answer
 Marks: 6 (Monthly Tests)
Marks: 8 (Final Exam)

2. Essay Writing:
 Students are expected to write an essay on a given topic with clarity and
without spelling mistakes.
 Hints in the form of words and pictures will be given.

 Sentences should have minimum five words each.
 Marks: 6 (Monthly Tests - Minimum 6 sentences needed)
Marks: 8 (Final Exam - Minimum 8 sentences needed)

*****Note: In the monthly test, students will be tested either in Reading


Comprehension or in Essay Writing*****

3. Spelling/Sentence Making:
 Students are expected to spell given words correctly, write their English
meanings and write proper detailed sentences answering at least 3
questions (who, what, why, when, where, how) using them correctly.
Minimum 5 words in each sentence needed.
 Spelling will be tested in any one of the following formats:
 Choose the right spelling
 Correct the spelling in the given word
 Oral dictation
 Write the Tamil word for the given English word
 Marks: 4 (Monthly Tests)
Marks: 8 (Final Exam)

4. Grammar:
 Questions will be in the following formats:
 Fill in the blanks.
 Multiple choice
 Choose the correct answer
 True or False
 Match the following.
 Marks: 6 (Monthly Tests)
Marks: 16 (Final Exam)

5. Oral:
 Students are expected to :
 Read aloud a passage from the text book with clarity and/or
 Speak about a given topic fluently and/or
Memorize and recite fluently a particular Thirukural and explain its
meaning.
 Marks: 4 (Monthly Tests)
Marks: 10 (Final Exam)
