Causative Structure: Műveltető Szerkezet

This document discusses the causative structure in Hungarian. The causative structure is used when someone has something done by another person rather than doing it themselves. It is similar to the passive structure in that the subject of the sentence is not performing the action. The main helping verbs used in the causative structure are HAVE, GET, MAKE, and LET, and they conjugate based on tense like the helping verb BE does in the passive. The document provides examples of different causative constructions and notes rules for their use depending on whether the agent is important or not and which helping verb is used.

Causative Structure

Műveltető szerkezet
A műveltető szerkezetet akkor használjuk, amikor valakivel megcsináltatunk valamit, tehát nem
mi végezzük a cselekvést, hanem valaki más helyettünk.

Abban hasonlit a Passive szerkezethez, hogy nem a mondat alanya végzi a cselekvést.

Alapesetben a HAVE a segédige, de lehet még több is: GET, MAKE, LET- további slideok

A Passivehez hasonlóan-ott a BE ige- a segédige változik aszerint hogy milyen igeidőt használunk:

We paint the house every day. → We have the house painted every year. PRESENT SIMPLE

She was cleaning the carpet. → She was having the carpet cleaned. PAST CONTINUOUS

We will install the lights later. →We will have the lights installed later. FUTURE SIMPLE
- többféle használati szabály van, annak függvényében, hogy fontos vagy
sem a személy akivel elvégeztetjük, illetve hogy melyik segédigét
használjuk

- Nagyon fontos: Kérdésnél és tagadásnál a do/does/did segédigéket kell használnod!

Did you have your hair cut? – Levágattad a hajad?

Does she have her flat cleaned? – Ki szokta takaríttatni a lakását?

Do you have your hair dyed? – Festeted a hajad?

A. HAVE+ OBJECT+ VERB 3rd FORM ( by+ agent)
- when we arrange for someone to do something for us- mással
végeztetjük el, de nem feltétlenül fontos a személy,elhagyható

We have had our cottage painted recently.

She had her hair cut.( by her cousin)

- !!! when something unpleasant happens to someone,an accident, a

misfortune, something that had not been arranged

Susan had her house broken into last year. -INSTEAD OF PASSIVE

Mark have had his leg broken in the car crash.

● GET: can replace HAVE in informal language

B. In the following cases we want to express who is the agent
1. HAVE+ AGENT+ SHORT INFINITIVE+OBJECT

- we ask/make someone do something

I have had my brother cut my hair.

I will have Lucy take the dog for a walk this evening.

2. GET+ AGENT+ FULL INFINITIVE+ OBJECT

- we persuade someone to do something

She is going to get Joe to water the plants for me while I am on holiday.

Mrs.Smith got her husband to do the shopping.

3. MAKE +AGENT+ SHORT INFINITIVE+OBJECT

- the agent does something against his will- inkább kényszerités

mint meggyőzés

I have made my brother cut my hair. ( He didn`t want it)

4. LET+ AGENT +SHORT INFINITIVE+OBJECT

- you let someone to do something, not a specific causative

I let them watch the movie.

5. HAVE/GET +OBJECT+ GERUND

-when the agent causes something to happen

The teacher will have you speaking German in no time.

Mother will get you tidying your room!
