Overall Project: implement GIS and Esri into the daily operations of the Walmart EOC.
• Created numerous: GIS maps, Operations Dashboards, Story Maps, and Esri Applications to improve
situational awareness and the flow of information. Including the following:
o Supported responders and prepared Executive briefings during the Walmart El Paso Domestic
Terrorism event by creating a story map with up-to-date information about the event.
o Produced Dashboards and Story Maps for information sharing and executive summaries for
Hurricane Barry in Louisiana, Earthquakes in Ridgecrest, California, Peru, and Chili, Typhoons in
China, Japan, and Taiwan, and wildfires in California.
o Created a dashboard that displays automatically updated data on violence related crimes and
threats of violence reported in Walmart stores around the country.
o Developed a Situation Report story map used daily by Crisis Managers and the ESF’s that has up-
to-date information on current situations.
o Created a web application used by Crisis Managers, that will allow them to pull the number of
stores that are affected by any given event and measure the distance from an event to a facility.
o Created other story maps, applications, and dashboards as needed.
• Presented projects in front of more than 80 people.
• Trained full-time associates in the EOC on how to use/make the maps and applications effectively.
