Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to pursue a Master’s degree in Engineering Management at your well esteem
institution Jonkoping University for the 2015 autumn intake as I feel it will enable me to study
about textile processes, methods and applications from a management perspective, and
significantly deepened knowledge concerning the Engineering Management. I’ve studied the
course content in university’s website, found this very interesting where all types managerial
skill specially related to engineering field.

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree having a good result of CGPA 3.80 (scale of 4) in Apparel
Manufacture & Technology (AMT) from BGMEA Institute of Fashion & Technology
(BIFT)*, an affiliated institution of National University of Bangladesh. During my graduation I
studied the manufacturing process of garment from raw material sourcing to shipment of final
goods with high quality. In order to do that, I went to factory trip to gain practical knowledge &
completed many useful projects following instruction of our well trained faculties. Among all of
my project- Fabric Inspection System, Store Room Management, Cutting Room Management,
Production Planning, Production Development & Fashion Retailing are the most highlighted
project to be mentioned here. In addition to my course I had an interest on Supply Chain
Management (SCM), sometimes I searched the related info about SCM over the internet & saw
video lectures in youtube. In 2013, I fortunately got a chance to take-part in a Four Day
Workshop on Supply Chain Management at Bangladesh University of Engineering &
Technology (BUET) & completed successfully.

After completing my graduation, I started my professional career as a Trainee Merchandiser


from 1st July 2011 at Padma Textiles Ltd & continued there as an Asst. Merchandiser till 6th
March 2013. I gained valuable knowledge & experience from my assigned job which includes
product development, communication with foreign buyers, sourcing of raw materials, following
up production status & on-time shipment. Besides, I gained experience on using two online
databases named Target & Fast React to maintain the proper supply chain of our orders from
price quotation to the payment receiving. From 7 th March 2013 to till now, I’m continuing my
job at Woolworths* Global Sourcing (WGS), Bangladesh Liaison Office as an Asst. Merchandiser
to give proper support to the Buying Team. Here, I’m much involved in Value Management
instead of manufacturing by giving my effort on operating ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)
database name SAP which maintains the total supply chain of Woolworths. I’m very much
happy to gain practical knowledge on apparel supply chain management apart of my general
merchandising responsibilities. As a leisure pursuit, I’ve started my blog
www.clothingstudy.com to share my educational & professional knowledge related with textiles
& supply chain though it’s not well organized yet, but I’m expecting to resume my sharing very
soon to make it as a center of vast knowledge on textiles.

So with these reasons above, I’m giving a try for myself to be part this Master program which is
strongly related with my dream. Not only I will be practicing my skills, but also I will have the
opportunity to learn many things in a more professional way, in an international atmosphere.
Studying this program will allow me to learn from world-class qualified professionals in a
competitive environment between different people from different countries & cultures. I’m
confident that I have a number of key strengths and personal attributes, for example- a good team
player, love to make friend within short time, enjoy contributing ideas, providing feedback & can
support & motivate others, willing to learn & sharing knowledge as well. That’s why, I
thoroughly believe that my education & professional background would enable me to stand me
as a perfect applicant for this Master programme (One Year) in Engineering Management to
grow myself as well to live in nice Swedish culture.
