Scholarship
The IT Scholarship
The IDB-BISEW IT Scholarship consists of:

• 12-14 months long high-end IT training programme


• a monthly allowance and
• employment assistance for all trainees
Each scholarship has the market value of at least Tk. 2.5 Lac. Every trainee
receives a monthly allowance of Tk. 2,000 for the duration of the training. The
intensive training programme equips the participant with in-depth knowledge
and cutting-edge skills necessary to excel in a wide variety of IT jobs.

Part 1: Applying for the IDB-BISEW IT Scholarship


A. APPLICATION PROCEDURE
1. What is the application procedure for the scholarship?

Interested applicants shall have to apply for the scholarship by buying the official application
forms for Tk. 100 from any branch of Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd and submitting the filled in
forms by courier to IDB-BISEW’s address as printed on the envelope included in the application
materials. The applicant shall retain with him/her the official admit card enclosed with the
application materials.
2. Who can sit for the Aptitude Test for the IT Scholarship?

All applicants who fill up the official application forms correctly and submit these within the
given deadline and satisfy the eligibility criteria of the scholarship (see section B.2.a below) will
get the opportunity to sit for the Aptitude Test. Aptitude Test candidates must remember to bring
the admit card (as provided with the applications forms) with them to the exam venue –
otherwise they will not be allowed to sit for the Aptitude Test.

B. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
1. Who can apply for the scholarship?

Anyone satisfying the following criteria is eligible to apply for the IT Scholarship:

a. Must be citizen of Bangladesh


b. By faith Muslim
c. Must possess at least a graduation or Fazil degree, or a diploma in Civil
Engineering/Architecture/Survey
d. Secured at least 2nd division (CGPA 2.5) in both SSC and HSC examinations
2. Who cannot apply for the scholarship?

Individuals for whom any one of the following conditions hold true may not apply for the IT
Scholarship:

a. Persons having degree in any one of the following disciplines:

Computer Science or equivalent, Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Bio-Chemistry, Applied


Physics & Electronics, Agricultural Engineering, Leather Technology, B.Ed, etc.

b. Persons who would need to be engaged in any other institutional programme


of studies in parallel with the training of the IT Scholarship programme
C. SELECTION PROCEDURE
1. What are the steps in the selection procedure?

Applicants shall first have to pass Aptitude Test conducted for IT Scholarship programme. As
the last step in the selection procedure, candidates successful in the Aptitude Test have to appear
in a brief interview. Candidates are finally selected if they successfully clear the interview.

2. What is meant by the Aptitude Test?

In order to assess the basic aptitude of the candidate, the Project Authority would conduct a
written test lasting 45 minutes, in Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) format. The test basically
seeks to evaluate a candidate’s problem solving abilities.

3. Is there any pass mark in the test?

There is no pass or fail marks for the test. Instead a percentile ranking system is used for
selecting successful candidates.

1. Where shall be the training conducted?

The training courses shall be conducted at various locations at Dhaka and Chittagong
metropolitan area.

1. What are courses offered in the IT Scholarship Programme?

The following professional level courses are offered in the IT Scholarship Programme:

a. Enterprise Systems Analysis & Design - J2EE (ESAD-J2EE)


b. Web Presence Solutions & Implementation (WPSI)
c. Networking Technologies (NT)
d. Enterprise Systems Analysis & Design - VB.NET (ESAD-VB.NET)
e. Enterprise Systems Analysis & Design - C#.NET (ESAD-C#.NET)
f. Database Design and Development (DDD)
g. Architectural and Civil CAD (ACAD)
h. Computer Aided Animation (CAA)
2. What are the durations of the courses

The courses’ duration range from 12 to 14 months.

3. What are the vendor certifications available in the courses?

The following vendor certifications are included in specific courses:

a. Microsoft Certified System Administrator – Messaging


b. Microsoft Certified Professional Developer
c. Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist
d. Sun Certified Java Programmer
e. Oracle Certified Developer
B. MONTHLY MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE (MMA)
1. What is the Monthly Maintenance Allowance?

All trainees in the IT Scholarship Programme who successfully complete the introductory course
called Computer Fundamentals and proceed to the professional course, start receiving the MMA
each month for the duration of the professional course.

2. Do trainees receive the Monthly Maintenance Allowance from the


beginning of the training programme?
Trainees become eligible for receiving the MMA only after completing and passing the
Computer Fundamentals course. Trainees should not expect to receive the MMA before four (4)
months from the start of the Computer Fundamentals course.

C. PLACEMENT SERVICE
1. What is meant by Placement Service?

The place service is a set of services offered to the successful graduates of the IT Scholarship
training programme that enables the graduate to secure suitable and well paid jobs leading to a
successful career as an IT professional.

2. How do graduates of the training programme secure jobs?

Graduates of the IT Scholarship Programme only have to register for the placement services
offered under the project. Once a graduate registers, he or she is notified to appear for interviews
arranged by the Placement Cell, a special department, dedicated to the task of providing various
placement services to the trainees and the graduates. Successful outcome in the interview leads
to employment.

D. TRAINING CLASSES
1. What are the features of the training classes under the IT
Scholarship Programme?

Each week, class sessions are held on Saturday through Thursday. Attendance is mandatory and
absence is permitted only under exceptional circumstances.

2. What is the duration of a class?

For a batch of trainees, classes are held in any one of two slots. Classes in the morning slot are
held from 9:00 am to 1:00 while the afternoon slot is from 3:00 am to 7:00 am. Class duration is
four (4) hours per day.
