Specification E96-601 INFI-NET Communication System UFHET EIT, Pe use niister veep B Features INFI-NET provides a plantwide communication network Response time 1s fast Ten megabaud rate gives timely information exchange Message packing and multiple addressing increases data handling efficiency and throughput INFI-NET time synchronizes the plant-wide control process ‘+ Requires no traffic director. every node sits own master ‘+ Multiple self check features including positive message acknowledgment and cyclical redundancy checks ensure data integrity + Provides localized start-up/shutdown on power failure without operator intervention Seamless, ReatTime Process Management Solution ley, Introduction INFLNET 1s a unidvectonal, high-speed senal data highway shared by all INFI 90 nodes. The central ring supports up to 250 nodes Multiple subrings link to the ‘central ring through local and remote interfaces (shown on cover) Each subring supports up to 250 nodes Interfacing INFI-NET provides sophisticated interfaces for data exchange These network interface units use state-of the-art INFI 90 modules Refer to RELATED HARDWARE for a list of INF-NET modules that make up each interface amaximum 250 subrings from the central ring gives a total system capacity of 62.500 nodes Related Hardware Process Conirol Unit interface Interface | Modules Hardware Description PCU INNPMO1 __| Network Processing Module TNNISOT Network Interface Slave Module INFL-NET to Computer Interface interface | Modules Hardware Desorption INICIO® INICTOT INF-NET to Computer Transfer Module INNISOT Network Interface Slave Module INFI-NET to INFI-NET Local Interface Interface Modules Hardware Description INILOT iNiTOT TNFENET to INFENET Transfer Module TNNISOT Network interface Slave Module INFENET to INFI-NET Remote Interface interface | Modules Hardware Description INTIROT INITOR INFENET to INFI-NET Transfer Module INNISOT Network Interface Slave Module INFE-NET to Plant Loop Local interface Interface | Modules Hardware Description INIPLOT TNIPTOT INFENET to Plant Loop Transfer Module INNISOT Network Interface Slave Module Process Control Unit Interface (PCU) The Process Control Unt Interface (Figure 1) consists of the Network Interface Stave (INNISO1) and the Network, Processing Module {INNPMO1) Through this ntertace the PCU has access to INFI-NET The NIS links the node to INFL-NET, while the NPM, communicating to the master modules viathe Controlway, holds the Process Control Unit database The NPM polls all modules for Exception Reports Ithas user-selectable poll rates with a maximum of 4 poll ‘cycles/second The NPMpackages messages by grouping ot OT those with a common destination Transmission of packaged messages maximizes data throughput The NIS and NPM execute module secunty checks of hardware and software Error detection takes the node off-line without interrupting the loop (this 1s true for all INFI-NET interfaces) The PCU Interface can support hardware redundancy (Figure 2) In a redundant conhguration, there are two NIS and two NPM modules One pair of modules ss the primary |W the primary fais, the backup comes on-ine ra oral FIGURE 1 — Process Control Unut Interface WHEI-TIET Fits 1 ME-UC : Fe WDE FIGURE 2 — Redtondant Process Control nu hnterpace INFI-NET to Computer Interface (ICI) The INFI-NET to Computer Interface (Figure 3) consists of a Network Interface Slave Module (INNISO1). an INFLNET to Computer Transfer Module (INICTO1) and related support hardware It gives a host computer access to point data Point data is available through a RS-232-C serial hnk at standard rates up to 19 2 Kbaud ‘The INFI-NET to Computer Interfaces command driven through software on the host computer The ICI receives ‘a.command from the host, executes it and then replies to the host Data Acquisition ‘The host computer butlds a database (up to 10,000 points) inthe ICI The host has access to the database with data acquisition commands Configuration The ICI can download contro! strategy configurations to INFI 90 modules It also allows the user to tune and read block outputs using an operator console or host computer Process Contro! The command list enables a host computer to handle analog and digital process requirements such as changing setpoints and control outputs. The ICI can supply control ‘commands, in addition to data values that are n exception report form, to INF! 90 modules Security The ICT and NIS do continuous hardware and software checks to ensure module secunty The userhas the option of assigning a password to prevent unauthonzed configuration changes or data acquisition FI-UIET Fini FIGURE 3 —INFI-NET to Compute: Interface INFI-NET to INFI-NET Local Interface (IIL) ‘The INFI-NET to INFI-NET Local Interface (Figure 4 and cover) provides a communication path from a central INFLNET ning to a satellite INFI-NET ring The intertace consists of an INFI-NET to INFI-NET Transfer Module (INIITO!), two NIS modules and related hardware Both rings must terminate within 150 fect when using a local interface Data Flow When a NIS receives a message, it notifies the IIT The IT acknowledges and receives the message, and stores it inits exception report database (random access memory) When the interface recewes a message. it takes responsibilty for that message and venties it reaches its destination Messages include exception reports, configuration data, control data and system status Redundancy Interface redundancy uses a full set of duplicate modules (Figure 5) — Handshaking occurs over the Controlway (operating at 833 koaud) The secondary module monitors the primary fora failure Ifa failure occurs, the secondary takes over and operation continues er ATELUT « is-er ! pra ang = Fins FIGURE 4 — INFI-NET to INFI-NET Lina terface viene TELLITE ul-ugt Fru tener ELUTE VW FIGURE §— Redundant INFI-NET to INFL-NET Local Interface INFI-NET to INFI-NET Remote Interface (IIR) The INFLNET to INFI-NET Remote interface (Figure 6 and cover) links a satelite INFINET ring to a central INFENET ring The interface consists of a NIS module, the INFLNET to INFINET Transfer Module (INIIT02) and related hardware Both rings (central and satelite) have a setof interface modules. Allsystem datas available tothe satelite subnng through the IIR This interface supports, complete br-directional data transfer The IIR is simular to the focal interface, but uses RS-232-C ports to support satelite communication The IR can use a vanety of means to link a satelite INFLNET ring to a central INFENET ‘ing such as modems and microwave transceivers versie Loe fe sare tinier Fr FIGURE 6 — INFI-NET ta INFI-NET Remote Intertace INFI-NET to Plant Loop Local Interface (IPL) ‘The INFLNET to Plant Loop Local interface (Figure 7 and cover) allows the INFENET central nng to interface with INFI90 Plant Loop.
