Elliptical Sonic Jet Control with Rectangular Tabs, Guide: Prof. E. Rathakrishnan (May’15 - Jul’16)
 Experimentally studied the aerodynamic mixing characteristics of elliptic sonic jet flow fields under the presence of rectangular
tabs
 Investigated the effect on mixing of the jet flow with ambient air by varying the aspect ratio of the tabs
 Measured pitot pressure and used shadowgraph technique to study the jet flow field and the structures of waves
 The introduction of the tabs, depending on their orientation, at the nozzle exit resulted in weakening of shock cell structures and
enhancement of jet mixing.

B-TECH PROJECT
Experimental Study on the Mixing Characteristics of Semicircular Notched Elliptic Orifice Jet of Aspect Ratio 2, Guide:
Prof. E. Rathakrishnan (Aug’14 - Nov’14)
 The mixing characteristics of the jet were studied experimentally by measuring the centerline decay of pressure.
 Results were compared with those of square notched elliptic orifice jet.
 By employing non circular geometrical shape at the orifice exit, the entrainment and mixing of the jet with surrounding fluid
was enhanced significantly, but was less effective compared to the other orifice jet.
