Relations & Functions-L4: Range of Function

The document provides information about the range of a function. It defines the range as the set of all y-values obtained by substituting all x-values from the domain into the function y=f(x). It presents procedures to find the range by expressing x in terms of y and determining the possible y-values. Examples are provided to demonstrate finding the range of functions by using these procedures. The document also advertises a JEE crash course program offered by Vedantu that provides live online classes, tests, doubt solving and other resources to help students prepare for the JEE exam.

Range
The set of all ‘y’ values we get from the function y = f(x), by substituting all
x - values from domain in the function is called as Range.
Relations & Functions - Lesson 4
Relations & Functions - Lesson 4

Procedure for finding out range of function

For the function y = f(x)
1) Express x explicitly in terms of y
2) Find the possible values for y (like domain for x)
3) Eliminate value(s) of y w.r.t x, if applicable
