Why does it occur?

The straight answer to this question is: We don’t take care of our feet as much as of our face which later
welcomes several other causes. Such as:

 The skin on your feet is naturally dry due to the absence of oil glands. When you mostly leave
your feet without a moisturizer, they don’t receive their essential moistures and invites the
cracking skin under your feet.
 Harsh non-moisturizing soaps make them drier by draining out their moisture.
 Environmental changes and weather affect the moisture level in your body and may cause foot
fissure.
 Aging, too, bear upon your heels negatively because with passing years your skin begins to dry.
 Medical conditions like diabetes, thyroid or eczema can widely lead to cracked heels by
increasing the level of dryness in them.

Initially, these cracks appear to be lines only, but if not treated properly can lead to serious scaling,
flaking and bleeding.
