The subject with the highest Borda count is Basic math. Therfore, Basic Math is the
most favored course.

A. Solve Problem 11 using the plurality method.

Since Basic Calculus got the most first-place votes with 30 votes (Basic Math got
26, Pre-calculus got 0, Basic Calculus got 30 and Statistics got 8), Basic Calculus
wins the election according to plurality method.
B. Answer Problem 11 using the top two runoff method.

Courses Ratings Total First-Place Votes

Basic Math 2 1 1 3 2 26
Pre-Calculus 3 2 2 2 4 0
Basic 1 3 4 1 3 30
Calculus
Statistics 4 4 3 4 1 8
No. of votes 12 16 10 18 8

The two top subjects with the greatest number of first-place votes are Basic Math and
Basic Calculus. Thus, removes Pre-Calculus and Statistics from the list. This gives us
the following preference list.
Courses Ratings Total First-Place Votes
Basic Math 2 1 1 2 1 34
Basic 1 2 2 1 2 30

No. of votes 12 16 10 18 8
Therefore, Basic Math wins this election.

C. Answer Problem 11 using the plurality with elimination method.

Round 1

Courses Total First-Place Votes

Basic Math 26
Pre-Calculus 0
Basic Calculus 30

No. of votes 12 16 10 18 8

Courses Total First-Place Votes

Basic Math 16 + 10 = 26
Basic Calculus 12 + 18 = 30
Statistics 8
Since statistics has the lowest first place votes, statistics is eliminated.
