Group Case Study

1.1 Evaluate approaches to learning and workplace training against organisational

strategic requirements

The main approach to learning and training used by Queensland School administration was in-

service training which is the enhancement of skills, knowledge and abilities of teachers through

collaborative participation and active discussion with peers. It is aimed at re-educating the

professionals with the latest improvements or advancements so that they get updated about the

processes. Also, they involved the teachers in the re-construction of the curriculum incorporating

technology education. This approach was in line with the strategic goals of the organization

which was to diffuse technology education in the system not just for students but for the staff as

well.

1.2 Analyse the contribution of organisational learning to competitiveness, and confirm

with key stakeholders

Organizational learning and development practices can aid in the attainment of competitive

advantage and set it apart from the competition. It allows an organization to stay ahead following

the emerging global trends. An organization which does not learn does not grow and sooner or

later it fades out of the competition. Queensland School’s process of learning to successfully

implement and incorporate technology education in the curriculum was aimed at lifting the

standard of schooling and acquiring an advantage over the competition.

1.3 Examine and review options for deploying quality policies and processes in

organisational learning
Queensland School worked on the principle that when new technologies emerge, the old skills

become obsolete, therefore, it is highly important to equip younger generations with the right and

most useful skills that will help them in future when they become a part of the workforce of the

country. To achieve that it is required that old habits be unlearned, and new ways are adopted.

Implementation of technology was not enough if the quality got compromised. The quality of

staff training, curriculum, as well as material and equipment provided, and continuous

improvements are the factors that collaboratively enhanced the quality of outcomes.

1.4 Analyse and plan requirements for an organisational learning strategy to support

organisational strategic and policy requirements

Shifting from traditional to technologically advanced methods of education requires

transformation and learning across the organization. Therefore, the importance of strategy cannot

be neglected in the effective implementation and the achievement of desired organizational

goals. Introduction of policies is not the answer here, rather it involves organization-wide

learning. Teachers cannot do anything until they are provided with proper training, appropriate

facilities and equipment and sufficient budget by the organization. Moreover, the support of the

administration is needed to take and practically implement decisions.

1.5 Analyse and plan technological and systems requirements for an organisational

learning strategy

For the organization’s learning strategy to prosper, technology education needed not to be just

provided theoretically. Rather, it was ensured that the school had proper facilities and equipment

needed to disseminate practical knowledge. To make the process smoother, an information

system was established where all the helping material, manuals, handouts were available for
guidance. Also, the contents and exercises of the in-service training were provided on that

system and through that information system, ways of accessing and networking with experts of

the industry were provided.

1.6 Analyse and align organisational learning strategy with human resources and learning

requirements and plans

The ultimate outcomes i.e. effective implementation of technology education was not possible to

achieve without the involvement and development of human resources. Factors like the passion

of teachers towards this goal contributed towards success. Also, strong and effective leadership

was the key to success. A strong leader makes sure that appropriate budget is allocated to the

objectives, the teachers are properly trained, the processes are continually improved and keeps an

eye on the activities of competitors, and devise ways to stay ahead of them. In this way, the

short-term goals, as well as long term plans, can be achieved.

2.1 Design organisational learning strategy to achieve instructor, learner and

organisational strategic requirements

Instructors can be equipped with the required skills through in-service training, practical

sessions, and communication with industry experts. Also, instructors must be a part of

curriculum development and they are consulted by the administration while making decisions.

Learners should be provided with appropriate facilities, equipment, knowledge, and awareness

about the latest advancements to facilitate their learning process. At the organizational level, an

appropriate budget must be allocated, marketing and promotional activities must be conducted to

raise awareness among different stakeholders.

2.2 Include relevant units of competency, modules from accredited courses or non-

accredited training specifications in organisational learning strategy

Units of competency do not work in isolation. Rather, it is an integrated concept which is

considered as a part of training package which should be delivered to the employees of

Queensland School to provide a guide and map for the skill sets the employees may require.

Therefore, description, elements and performance are the criteria which can help in knowing

what will be the need according to the ever-changing environment and they should be

incorporated into the organizational strategy.

2.3 Develop flexible organisational learning strategies to permit and promote

responsiveness of the organisation to changed circumstances and priorities

Technology has taken over all aspects of human lives. The traditional curriculum of school

education fails to equip students with complex skills which are needed in workplaces such as

problem-solving skills, analytical skills, and other such advance skills which are going to be in

high demand in future. Technology helps to develop these skills. Therefore, Queensland School

identified that gap and made efforts to implement technology education in their curriculum.

Thus, they remained responsive to the changing environment and priorities.

2.4 Design and develop learning and assessment strategies to support organisational

strategic requirements

Queensland School can design and structure the strategies which are concerned with the

organizational learning and development requirement by developing session plans to facilitate

effective delivery of the courses. After that, determine the content which will be needed to make

the structure of the program. It will also help in determining the required time.
2.5 Establish processes and procedures for allocating and managing resources and staff,

required to implement organisational learning strategy

To effectively implement technology education, there needed to be no shortage of budget and

resources so that the quality does not get compromised. To arrange the resources, the

organization prioritized its expenses and set aside a budget for this goal. Moreover, they accessed

the funding grants and how to avail those. To manage staff, they shared the organization vision

with the entire staff and provided training to upgrade their skill set. The teachers were

encouraged to network and collaborate to take advantage of each other’s expertise and ideas.

2.6 Structure compliant assessment and employee recognition policies and processes

appropriate to organisational strategic requirements

Queensland School should devise complaint assessment and employee recognition policies by

starting a dialogue with employees on their thoughts and feelings advancements in technology

and what they want in terms of perks and rewards after bringing those advancements. After

knowing about the needs, the school should develop SMART goals and research the types of

rewards programs that will offer the most value. Employees only want to feel valued and

appreciated by the people above them and should be given the right to register complaints when

needed.

2.7 Structure procurement and supply policies and processes appropriate to organisational

strategic requirements

Queensland School has involved a wide range of technological advancements to achieve its

mission, goals and objectives. The school must address their requirements in ways which is fair

to all vendors, must work ethically to enhance the business reputation of the School. The
procurement policies can be made appropriate to organizational strategic requirements by

providing leadership done over contract negotiation, supplier management and shifting to

modern technologies i.e. e-commerce for purchasing, the school must work for the responsibility

of the environment with the commitment to outreach with the local business community. Also, it

must ensure to meet all the ethical and professional standards of the business by keeping in mind

the changing requirements and must work in alignment with policies regarding contracting and

purchasing.

Queensland can develop an organizational learning strategy by keeping in mind the three

approaches. First, management training should be done in which managers should be trained in

specific skill areas by instilling the company values and inculcating the norms of the

organization. Second, management development can be done by doing counselling programs in

which employees receive feedback based on test results regarding their abilities and interests.

This helps in increasing the self-awareness which will lead to behavioural changes ultimately

leading to the effectiveness of the School. Third, organizational development can be concerned

with the planned process associated with cultural change in which school can consider

behavioural knowledge as a base for making interventions which can increase the efficiency of

the organization.

learning and wider operational needs

Queensland School must consider using summative assessments which helps in measuring what

students have learnt at the end of a unit, helps in promoting students by ensuring they have met
required standards. Other than that, formative assessment can be used which are concerned with

the progress of the students to understand learning needs and adjust methods of teaching

appropriately according to changing needs.

3.3 Source learning resources compliant with specific international, national, industry and

workplace need

Implementation of technology education is the school curriculum is in alignment with the

industry requirements as well as national requirements. Education systems can only advance by

incorporating technology and meeting current needs. Similarly, when students get equipped with

advanced knowledge, countries can prosper. Also, technological skills are required in workplaces

as well due to the latest advancements in the methods of working.

3.4 Review policies and procedures for continuing relevance, operational effectiveness and

to identify any gaps

Queensland school must devise policies for continuous reviews and improvements in the

implementation of technology education. Frequent reviews of the processes are important so that

the focus remains intact and the program remains relevant to the goals and strategies of the

organization as well as it continues to add to the skills and learning of the students which is the

major aim of this program

3.5 Systematically evaluate strategic outcomes attained through organisational learning

strategy and update policies and procedures accordingly

Queensland school was successful in its implementation of technology education due to various

factors such as collaboration with teachers, marketing and promotions, the fulfilment of
budgetary needs, provision of equipment, and training of teachers. However, one thing that

lacked and which can be updated in future policies in the involvement of a strong leader who can

act as a mentor and work for continuous improvements.

4.1 Develop procedures to systematically liaise with educators, learners and others to

monitor how well learning strategies and learning resources achieve organisational

learning targets

Queensland School should incorporate the latest research and best practices into the teaching

methodologies, gives exposure to more technology-based resources, allow to students to develop

the competencies to work individually and within groups and should have individual expertise.

This will provide mentorship to the students. Educators should provide learners with sound

advice about good practice, what works and what doesn’t and why, teaching tips and deep

knowledge about the new concept, context and the whole education system.

4.2 Monitor and incorporate national policy and system changes into organisational

learning and development strategies and practices

bring changes in the education of Queensland School. For this, all the determinant be taken into

consideration which should be aligned throughout the process. Smart policy design should be

made that offers a logical and feasible solution to the policy problems, should include the

engagement of all the stakeholders in the implementation process which is crucial to the success

of the organization. Finally, the policy should outline concrete measures which will help in

bringing all the determinants together coherently and logically to make the policy operational at

the school level.

of improved learning policies and procedures

Queensland School should keep some guidelines in order to modify the learning strategies. These

guidelines include; individualize according to student preference to reinforce student investment,

highlight the components that produce results, maintain the original spirit of the strategy, focus

on imparting strategies that will be generalized to the classroom, and monitor student

performance to validate modifications. These modifications in the learning strategies and

learning resources will enhance the effectiveness of Queensland School.

Queensland School ensures that the articulations must be within the evaluation and assessment

framework. The school has developed competencies for the evaluation purpose and for using it

for the feedback mechanism. The schools have secured their links in terms of classroom

practices by introducing technologically advanced policies and practices. Furthermore,

Queensland School has aligned educational standards with student assessment, kept a balance

between external assessments and teacher-based assessments.

5.2 Review performance of resources and people supporting organisational learning

strategy implementation

conduct mid-cycle check-in. Managers had requested optional self–evaluation and optional

customer input tool. All the instructors exceed expectations in the bringing technological

advancements in the school. They are adapting the change easily, works well under pressure with

a positive attitude and all are detail-oriented. All the instructors and employees go beyond the
call of duty by seeking out and following up on additional responsibilities and contribute

frequently to school meetings.
