WHAT LIMITS YOU?

BOB PROCTOR

Hello and welcome. Six Minutes to Success has the ability to change your entire life.
You see, every day we’re going to talk to you about a different idea—an idea that
can literally change the course of your life.
Do you know that your limitations are of your own thinking? That’s right. Stop and
ask yourself how many times you’ve said, “I’d really like to do this, but I can’t.” I
remember when I had been studying this material for 9 years. I had used it. I took my
income from 4,000 to over a million. I started a little company with a bucket and a
mop, a cleaning company. In nothing flat I was operating in Toronto, Montreal,
Boston, Cleveland, Atlanta, and London, England. No formal education, no business
experience. And I thought, “I bet there are a lot of people who’d love to learn how to
do this.”
Now, I was really into studying personal growth and that’s what helped me do what I
did. But I was shy and I knew that I couldn’t stand up in front of an audience and
speak. But one day I heard Bill Gove speak. And I made up my mind that I was going
to learn to do what he was doing because I had this burning desire to share what I
had learned with other people. I knew there were a lot of people who thought they
were stuck because they hadn’t gone to school, or they didn’t know this, or they
didn’t do that. I had no formal education. I had no business experience. Yet, I built an
international company, and I’ve gone on to build a company that operates all over
the world.
Our limitations are of our own making. I want to suggest that you sit down and ask
yourself, “What do I really want to do?” Think about it. I was afraid to stand up in a
group and ask a question. Today, I can get in front of an audience of fifteen or
twenty thousand people—or maybe only fifty people—and be totally relaxed. Why?
Because I learned how. I got rid of that limitation. I got rid of the idea that I couldn’t
do what I wanted to do.
Spend four or five minutes thinking of what you really want to do. And when that
limitation comes up, say “Get out of here!” Say, “I’m going to change that.” What do
you really want to do? There’s something there that you think you can’t do but the
truth is—you can. Limitations—they’re of our own making.
This is Bob Proctor and thank you.
