Assignment 01:
Project aims, objectives of a project

Aim:
LO1 Establish project aims, objectives and timeframes based on the chosen theme.
LO2 Conduct small-scale research, information gathering and data collection to generate
knowledge to support the project.

Scenario:
An attendance system allows to add the attendance of the employee who is present on that day. The user has to
login and swipe their identity card to mark their attendance. As the card has been swiped, the details like id
number, date, in-time, out-time are saved in the database. The database will be stored into the azure cloud which
will form a connection between application and cloud server via internet. With the in-time and out-time data
stored in cloud, the admin can calculate the working hours of the employees. The employees can view his
personal details, attendance, in-time or out-time, total working hours after he/she logs into the system. This data
is retrieved from the cloud database and can be accessed any time by the employee and the admin. The admin of
the system can add new employee by registering the new employee and filling up their registration details. The
admin is authorized to view the records of all the employees. This system allows to keep up to date record of the
employee. As, the project files and a database file will be stored into the Azure cloud, the project will be
accessed in the web browser through Azure link.
Tasks (Covering LO1 and LO2; Grading Criteria: P1, P2, P3, P4, M1, M2 and D1)
Produce a comprehensive project management plan, milestone schedule and project schedule for monitoring
and completing the aims and objectives of the project. [M1]
Task 01
a) Devise project aims and objectives for the above scenario. [P1]
b) Produce a project management plan that covers aspects of cost, scope, time, quality, communication,
documentation, risk and resources. [P2]
c) Produce a work breakdown structure and a Gantt chart to provide timeframes and stages for
completion. [P3]
Task 02
d) What do you understand by research method? For meeting the project aims and objectives carry out
small-scale research using research methods like quantitative and qualitative research. [P4]
You are required to record your weekly activities and achievements on the Project Logbook Template,
provided with the assignment. Your weekly log should be presented to your tutor for supervision on
weekly basis.
Moreover, you must evaluate the accuracy and reliability of different research method mentioned for
P4. [M2]
