Compressor Requirements:
Settings for Air Supervisory Pressure Switches and
Alarm Pressure Switches
Air supervisory pressure switches are required for dry
systems and must be set according to the following
instructions. NOTE: Switches for Vic-Quick Risers are
pre-set at the factory.
Wire the air supervisory pressure switches to activate a
low-pressure alarm signal. NOTE: In addition, the local
authority having jurisdiction may require a high-pressure
alarm. Contact the local authority having jurisdiction for
this requirement.
Set the air supervisory pressure switches to activate at
2 – 4 psi (14 – 28 kPa) below the minimum air pressure
required, but not lower than 10 psi/69 kPa.
Wire the alarm pressure switch to activate a water flow
alarm.
Set the alarm pressure switch to activate on a pressure
rise of 4 – 8 psi/28 – 55 kPa.

E. Aqueous Film-Forming Foam
AQUEOUS FILM-FORMING FOAM 3%
T EK NOS OL AF -1- 3F
UL 162

I. DESCRIPTION
Teknosol AF-1-3F is superior quality aqueous film-forming foam which can be used at the specified concentration to extinguish fires of non – polar
hydrocarbon fuels. This extinguishing agent is suitable for use with most types of proportioning and discharge equipment. AFFF foam concentrates
are designed for rapid fire knockdown by producing a thin aqueous film which helps to prevent the release of fuel vapors. The foam blanket from
which the film forming liquid drains separates oxygen from the fuel surface, extinguishes the fire and prevents re-ignition. The water content of the
foam provides a cooling effect. The aqueous film type 3% is produced by the fluorocarbon surfactant reducing the surface tension of the foam solu-
tion to a point where the solution can be supported by the surface tension of the fuel. Teknosol AF-1-3F AFFF 3% provides excellent penetrating
and wetting qualities when used on Class A fires also. This is important when extinguishing deep-seated fires in wood, paper, rubber and other
ordinary combustibles.

II. USE
It may be used with Foam Chambers, Air-aspirating and non air-aspirating sprinkler heads or spray nozzles, Standard water fog nozzles for hand
lines, Foam Makers for use with either Floating Roof Storage tanks or Dike/Bund protection systems and monitors, High back pressure foam
makers for subsurface base injection system (hydrocarbon type fuels only). Teknosol AF-1-3F is not compatible with galvanized pipe or fittings in an
undiluted form

III. DOSAGE
Teknosol AF-1-3F should be used as a 3% proportioned solution in fresh or sea water. It may be also used and stored as 3% pre-mix in fresh /
portable water. The correct proportioned or mixture ratio is 3 parts of concentrate and 97 parts of water.

IV. SPECIFICATIONS
Specific gravity @ 20°C 1.02 + 0.05 g / ml Pour Point -1ºC
pH @ 20°C 6.5 - 8.5 Storage temperature 2ºC to 50ºC
Viscosity @ 20ºC < 10 cst Foam Expansion Low > 7
Suspended sediment (v/v) < 0.1 % Foam Drainage 25% 3 - minutes
Freezing point -2°C

V. STORAGE AND HANDLING

When stored in the drums supplied the material has a long shelf life. The minimum and maximum usable temperatures for Teknosol AF-1-3F
concentrate are 2ºC and +50ºC respectively and shelf life should be 10 years when stored in original containers. If inadvertently frozen, thawing will
render the product completely usable.

Teknosol AF-1-3F may be stored in fiber glass, polyethylene or stainless steel containers. For bulk storage, mild steel tanks may be used provided
the internal surface is coated with a protective coating such as epoxy. The use of galvanized material should be avoided for storage vessels and

approvals, the BF-ECP Series extinguishant releasing panel offers outstanding value and performance for small to medium
fixed firefighting installations.

With three detection zones as standard, extinguishant release can be configured to activate from any combination of
detection zone inputs to allow (among other combinations) any two from three type activations such as would be required
for detection in ceiling void, room and floor void applications.

The extensive configuration options of the BRISTOL allow the functionality of the system to be extensively modified while
still complying with the requirements of the controlling standard for the equipment (EN 12094-1, EN54-2 and EN54-4).

The panel contains a large LED display to enable easy configuration and control which also displays the time remaining until
extinguishant release for added user safety.

The countdown timer is duplicated on up to seven remote status units to provide local indication of the extinguishant system
status.

With all the electronics mounted on a single easy removable, steel plate BRISTOL panels are both robust and easy to install.

Deluge Sprinkler Systems
Deluge sprinkler systems have open sprinklers or open spray nozzles and are used where it is desirable to discharge water through
all of the system's sprinklers or nozzles simultaneously. Prior to discharge there is no water in the sprinkler piping. The water supply is
held back by a control valve which is operated manually or automatically by the actuation of a fire detection system. The fire detection
system is required to be one of the following types: wet pilot sprinkler line, dry pilot sprinkler line, hydraulic rate-of-rise, pneumatic
rate-of-rise or electric. Compatible FM Approved Release Control Panels for use with electric release deluge sprinkler system(s) are
listed under RELEASE CONTROL PANEL COMPATIBILITY.

Automatic sprinklers are used on wet or dry pilot sprinkler lines. The dry pilot sprinkler line may also require a dry pilot actuator
depending upon the type of automatic water control valve. When required, only the compatible dry pilot actuator noted in the sprinkler
system listing shall be used in FM Approved systems.

Electrically operated deluge sprinkler systems are FM Approved on a component basis. Only the major, compatible components noted
in the sprinkler system listing shall be used in an FM Approved system. FM Global installation acceptance may stipulate that only
heat-actuated fire detection devices be used. Acceptance criteria by other jurisdictional authorities may vary.
Deluge sprinkler systems are FM Approved as complete systems. Only the listed components for a specific manufacturer shall be
used in an FM Approved system.

Indicating Valves, Butterfly or Ball Type
Design features provide a dependable visible indication of the open position even at a distance. If excessive force is applied to the
handle, weakness-joints will break so as to preserve correct orientation between indicator and valve position. Valve and indicator
parts are so designed that they can be assembled only one way, always to give correct indication. All FM Approved indicating valves
turn clockwise to shut. They are small, lightweight, and, because of a resilient seat, are easy to operate. They are not subject to
sticking or dropped gates. They are not recommended for throttling service. Unless otherwise noted in the listing, these valves have
175 psi (1205 kPa) rated working pressure.
