1. Can we say that theatrical production without dialogue, for examples mime and ballet, is
a drama? Explain your reason!

Answer : As we can see in the ppt, there However, a drama cannot give us characters and
actions without talk. So As we know mime and ballet are also performing arts, but
without talk or non-verbal. pantomime performances, there will be no sound heard from
the mime performers. In the mime performance we will only see the movements of mime
artists. Whereas ballet is definitely not a drama because ballet is a very beautiful and
elegant type of dance. Certainly ballet is not a drama because ballet is a type of dance.

2. Do you know traditional puppet show ("Wayang Kulit", for example) performed by a
puppeteer ("Dalang") who singlehandedly plays different roles? Can we categorize such
kind of show as a drama? Explain your reason!

Answer : Wayang kulit is played by a puppeteer who is also the narrator of the dialogue
of wayang figures, accompanied by gamelan music played by a group of nayaga and song
sung by pesinden. So in my opinion shadow puppets can be said to be part of the drama
because he has a dialogue and is performed in front of the crowd and many more
characteristics that refer to that shadow puppets are drama.

3. What is the difference between soliloquy and monologue? In what way (s) do they
enhance the story line of a drama?

Answer : Monologue, comes from the word Mono which means One, and Logi which
means knowledge. So monologue is the science of acting which only requires one person
or dialogue to perform a scene. While soliloquy is the talk of a character with himself,
which is used to express feelings in acting. Soliloquies are a type of Monologue, But the
Monologue can speak to himself and can also speak to the audience. So Soliloquy is part
of the Monologue, but that speaks to itself. While Monologues can talk to themselves
and can be to other people or spectators . So the difference lies in who is spoken to.

A good monologue must be able to accentuate plot and character details without
destroying the whole drama or making the audience feel boring. In addition, a qualified
monolog must also be able to express the thought of a character and contribute to add
emotion and tension throughout the rest of drama.
