The graphs of sinx, cosx and tanx

Sine

• The maximum value of sinx is 1. At x = 90°, sinx = 1.

• The minimum value of sinx is −1. At x = 270°, sinx = −1.

• The graph of sinx crosses the x-axis three times in the interval
0° ≤ x ≤ 360°. At x = 0°, 180°, and 360°, sinx = 0.

• The graph of sinx is the same shape as the graph of cosx, but it is
shifted 270° to the left or 90° to the right.
Cosine

• The maximum value of cosx is 1. At x = 0° and x = 360°, cosx = 1.

• The minimum value of cosx is −1. At x = 180°, cosx = −1.

• The graph of cosx crosses the x-axis twice in the interval

0° ≤ x ≤ 360°. At x = 90° and x = 270°, cosx = 0.

• The graph of cosx is the same shape as the graph of sinx, but it is
shifted 90° to the left or 270° to the right.
Tangent

• The maximum value of tanx is ∞.

• The minimum value of tanx is −∞.

• The value of tanx is undefined at x = 90° and x = 270°.

• The graph of tanx crosses the x-axis three times in the interval
0° ≤ x ≤ 360°. At x = 0°, x = 180°, and x = 360°, tanx = 0.
