International Recognition
ISO 17025 is recognised, internationally for competence to carry out testing and

ISO 17025 Calibration & Verification

Paragon Scientific produces both primary Certified Reference Materials (CRM's) and Secondary Working
Standards (SWS's) for flash point in full accordance with the requirements of ASTM D 92 (Cleveland Open Cup
Flash Point) and ASTM D 93 (Pensky Marten Closed Cup Flash Point).
In accordance with both methods we produce and certify:

Certified Reference Materials (CRM's) which are certified primary standards. The data is established by a
method-specific interlaboratory study in full compliance with ISO Guide 34 in accordance with our accreditation
by UKAS. These materials are intended to be used at least once a year for instrument and/or method verification
in accordance with ASTM D 92 or ASTM D 93.

Secondary Working Standards (SWS's) which are secondary working standards manufactured and certified by

basis in order to verify test equipment functionality on an on-going basis.
These are secondary working standards, which have been characterised in accordance with ASTM D 92 or
ASTM D 93. They are suitable for monitoring the equipment between annual verification checks as specified in
ASTM D 92 or ASTM D 93.

Paragon ISO 17025 / ISO Guide 34 dual certified viscosity standards are for the calibration and verification
of glass capillary viscometers and other viscosity measuring equipment where operating temperature is
controlled precisely.
At Paragon Scientific we understand the importance of accurate calibration in your laboratory so we only source
the highest quality raw materials for use in the manufacture of all our viscosity standards. Using only the best
quality materials means that our standards are highly stable in all environments, you will not experience 'flocking'
(associated with cool environments), discolouration or sedimentation.
We fully test our products at every given data point, so you can be assured that the certified value given is the
most accurate available.
Paragon Scientific Viscosity Standards are certified according to ISO 17025 and ISO Guide 34, accredited by UKAS
and are tested in accordance with the primary method for viscosity determination which references the value of water
as 1.0034 mm2/s (cSt) at 20°C (1.0016 mPa•s (cP) at 20°C).
CCS Viscosity Standards (Cold Cranking Simulator)

Paragon ISO 17025 / ISO Guide 34 dual certified CCS viscosity standards are for the
calibration and verification of analytical equipment used in Cold Cranking Simulator (CCS) oil
testing to ASTM D 5293 and SAE Specification J300.

Flow Cup Viscosity Standards

Paragon ISO 17025 / ISO Guide 34 dual certified flow cup standards are especially designed for use in DIN,
Ford, ISO, Shell and Zahn flow cups and are also dual purpose density standards. Certified at 20°C and 25°C,
each value is tested to ASTM D 2162 for viscosity measurement and ASTM D 1480 for density measurement.
Each value at every test temperature is tested to ASTM D 2162 and are NOT extrapolations.

We also offer highly competitive rates for viscosity standard bulk blending where customers wish to have a

Oil RI Standards
Calibration Oils are one of the most commonly used materials for calibrating refractometers as they have good
traceability, particularly to NIST. Having a high temperature co-efficient, calibration oils are used where strict
temperature control is adopted, either by Peltier or external waterbath between 10 and 75°C.
Calibration Oils are batch manufactured and so values may differ slightly from published data. Oils are supplied
in multipacks of 5 x 5mL bottles with a certificate of calibration, MSDS and pipettes and have an expiry date
12 months from date of dispatch.
For refractometers operating at high temperatures where water starts to evaporate, an oil may be used as a
zero calibration medium. Typical applications include those in the confectionery, edible oil and mineral oil
marketplaces.
Reference – manufactured and certified by Bellingham + Stanley, certified according to ISO 17025 under
UKAS accreditation.

Digital Thermometer
Paragon's high performance T2, T8 (2 or 8 channel) high precision digital thermometers have a host of new
features for increased usability and lower life-costs.
Using calibrated probes with T2 / T8 you can choose between storing calibration data into the instrument's
memory or into the probe's proprietary 'Smart' connector. Calibration data stays permanently with the probe in
this connector, which T2 / T8 instantly recognises, ensuring fool proof measurement. 'Smart' connectors used with
T2 / T8 use a standard 5-pin DIN connector, so you can use probes with normal, passive connectors on the
same input.
Calibration is made even simpler as there is no longer any need to send your whole instrument off for calibration.
We send you a calibrated device to connect to T2 / T8 and, using a built-in programme, the T2 / T8 can
calibrate itself.
Other features have been included, like the Temperature Watchdog Calibration and the Calibration Status
Monitor
Calibrated probes should be used within their calibration temperature limits, outside these and the probe
calibration may have been compromised. The Probe Temperature Watchdog keeps you informed.
If you are looking for a high precision digital thermometer with some great features and accuracy normally only

Precision mercury in glass thermometers for use in specific ASTM / IP test methods. These thermometers are of the
highest quality and easily readable with an etched surface scale and yelow backing.
The ASTM designation ensures that these thermometers meet the strict guidelines of the American Society for
Testing and Materials (ASTM). The IP designation indicates that the thermometer specification has been jointly
