KUMALA SHIPYARD
is company was established from the shipping company called PT. Kunangan Citra bahari (PT.
KCB) in Jambi (with its branch in Jakarta) in year of 1970 by Mr. Zikif Effendy Lee who had had
experience of 20 years in tug boats, barges and conventional cargo vessels and participated in
shipping company of PT. Andalas Bahtera Baruna (PT. ABB) in the year of 1995, later
developed company of PT. Kumala Bahari Dockyard (PT. KBD) in Jambi with the shipway
facility, capable to tow up to 1,200 DWT vessel
PT. Kunangan Marindo Laksana (KuMaLa) Shipyard with the abbreviation of PT. Kumala
Shipyard was established in 1995 and in the year of 2008, it was changed to PT. Kumala
Indonesia Shipyard (PT. KIS)
In the past 10 year period from 1995 to 2005, mostly new building vessels had been built such
as barges, tug boats including some Patrol Boats and Aluminum LCT. Some vessels of Floating
Dock, Oil Barges, Tankers, Cable Layer Barges, Steel LCTs, Barges, Tug Boats had been
repaired
We commenced to collaborate with other companies in 2006 in repair work of Oil Barges, later
with conversion or completion work from barge hull to Stimulation Oil Barge (for Total as end
user) and repair of Floating Dock 168 M done from outside Contractor from PT. Surya Prima
Bahari (PT. SPB in Batam), apart from our own repairs done for Barges, Tug Boats, Tankers,
LCTs and Cable Layer Barges
Since 2007 we have had joint ventures with some companies until 2011 for new building :
mostly 300ft (incl. size below 300ft), Tug Boat 23 m and Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS)
Vessel, length of 45 m. We were on our own management in the year of 2011 with about one
year preparation of yard facilities and equipments and we started to receive the 1st order on

Strategically located in Batam, Indonesia (only 45 minutes away from
Singapore by ferry), PT. Marcopolo Shipyard is one of the larger
