Student Membership : IAStructE

Aspiring young students in civil engineering who have an interest in fields related to science,
technology, structural engineering, and Consultancy services are encouraged to take the
membership of IAStructE. This is the gateway for progressing towards a career in designing
buildings, bridges, tunnels, nuclear power plants, industrial structures, and many other innovative
works, creatively bringing conceptual ideas to life, solving challenging problems and developing
innovative techniques in structural engineering. 

Why become a Student Member ?

1. It is FREE for Students. Only an entry fee of Rs. 100/- is charged for processing the
application. Admission Fee and Annual Membership Fee is exempted from Students.

2. By becoming a member of IAStructE, students can gain access to many resources and get
many services, such as :

a) Boosting employability profile : Student membership of the association attracts possibility to


have potential internship / work placements or future employment opportunities.

b) Increasing chances for employment : IAStructE provides opportunity to the student


members to network with professional structural engineers and to meet potential employers
in the association.

c) Full on-line access to the current volume and entire e-archive of  journal “Structural
Engineering Digest (SED)”, Refresher Course Materials, Technical Lectures and other
Technical Resources available with IAStructE.

d) Opportunity to get involved in organising IAStructE events, and become a free delegate for
the Seminar & Workshops.

Who are eligible to become a Student Member ?

1. Student Member of the Association shall be elected on fulfillment of the following requirements:

a) Age not less than 20 years;

b) Completed at least 2 years of a civil/structural engineering degree course recognized by


AICTE (i,e. 3rd & 4th Year Students)

What happens after Graduation? Can a student Member become Associate Member of
IAStructE ?

After graduation, Student members can upgrade himself / herself to the grade of ‘Associate
Member’ in IAStructE by paying a ‘transfer fee’. Once an ‘Associate Member’, the annual
membership fee is to be paid by the members. Any ‘Student Member’, who upgrades as
‘Associate Member’ will have to pay only 50% of the annual membership fee for the first
year. If a candidate does not apply for Associate Membership within 12 months of completing their
studies they will be required to pay the full annual subscription,
