Scene 1.1. Ext. Night. Raat’er Kolkata’r kichu drishyo. Ondhokar rasta,
ektu faka, cut to main roads sequences.. Gari kom... Esplande’e ektu halka
beshi bhir. Cut to Howrah Staion area.. Lokjon beshi. Etc. Etc. Sequences
of roads during the night.

Scene 1.2. Ext. Night./ Cross Dissolve to a South Calcutta’r goli./ Ekta
meye, Ishika, party-wear’e bari firche./ Ondhokar rasta./ Tinte chele rok’e
bosey adda dicchilo./ Meye’takey dekhe, meyetar dikey egiye jay, chele
tinte/ Started teasing with Bengali songs..

Bablu & Chandan: (Matal IN CHORUS) Ful kolire, kolire, kolire, ful koli,
Pagli kobe, tui kobe, tui amar hobi (Repeat the same lines twice)

[Meye’ta discomfort feel korbe, “Help! Help!” kore chechabe]

Chandan: (Meyetar samne giye) Ki mamoni chechaccho keno? Amra shudhu gaan
gailam, ete chechanor ki ache, mamoni?

Bablu: (In a mocking way) Areh bujhte parchis na.. Mamoni chaiche kaj’ta
taratari sere feli.. Ektu bojh!

[Chandan ar Bablu egiye jay, meyeta’k dhore ekta goli’te niye jay. Rastar
mathite fele. Chandan ar Bablu dujonei jama pant khole. First’e meyetar
poshak’ta chire onyodike chure fele dae, focus on that one. They raped her.
Korar por they left her behind on the road... Dujone je chole jacche oder

Scene 1.3. Int.


Characters: Vasundhara and Eliza.
Same night. Kolkata’r Ballygunge’e ek mesh barir room.
Mesh barir ghor ta khub ogochalo. Vasundhara is smoking weed,
khatey bosey. Ar Eliza is reading a magazine, sitting beside her. Focus on
magazine pages, tarpor mukh soriye bollo..

Eliza: Do you really believe, ei society ei shob ekdin mene nebe?

Vasundhara: Kon shob? (Eliza’r dikey takiye) Kire kon shob?

[Eliza magazine ta namiye rakhlo khatey..]


Eliza: Na mane ei je, amra live in korchi, amader chawa pawa je mile geche,
and in future ek-sathe thakar plan korchi, will this society say Okay to
it? Mane mene nebe toh amader?

Vasundhara: Gaar’e jak society and its fucking social norms. Ki baal ta
chireche bol toh etodin? Pereche ektao rape, molestation eishob atkate?

Eliza: Ar atkano.. Roj average’e 12 khana rape hoy ei deshe. Media proshno
chure dile, tader ektai reason, they can’t do anything in this matter.

(Eliza’k thamiye nesha nesha golay bollo..)

Eliza: ...Or dress’er dohai!

Eliza: (With a smile) In the name of Jesus, tui olpo’te high ajke! Fyal
ota!.. Tachara, tor idaning onek chele bondhu hoyeche, prem korchis na

(Vasundhara kissed Eliza)

Vasundhara: You’re my constant forever.

(Eliza uthe boshey, onyodike takiye..)

city. Alright? (Both smiles)

(Focus on the face then blur out.. Cross dissolve into a different room)

(Cut 2)

Scene 2.1. Ext. Morning. Bhor’er Kolkata’r kichu montage shots. Preferably
Ghat scenes, Bazar, Chayer dokan, Meat Shop’s Line, Someone is smoking
cigarette alongside was busy on a call. (Cut 2)
Scene 2.2. Int. Morning. A married husband wife, ghumacche pashapashi.
Hothat jorey jorey phone bajche, Snigdha haat narate narate, balish’er tola
theke phone’ta bar korlo. Choto choto chokhe dekhlo, Chief Editor phone
koreche.. Phone’ta dhore bollo..

Snigdha: Good morning Sir!

Editor VO: Ar morning..! Tumi kothay ekhon?

Snigdha: Apni jekhane ekhon, amio sekhane.. Eto sokale kothay ar jabo..

Editor VO: Jekhane acho sekhan theke uthe eso.. Beshi korte hobe na ar.
Kichu khobor peyecho? (Snigdha chokh mukh muche uthe boshlo) Ballygunge’e
kal ratre rape hoyeche ekta college student! Hot news ber korte hobe toh,
taina? Amader paper’k toh onek dhur egote hobe! Already ‘Days of Calcutta’
pouche geche meyetar barite. Tumio pouche jao..

Snigdha: Alright sir. Bye!

(Snigdha phone namiye rakhlo.. Ekbar edik odik takiye, khat theke namte
jabe, tokhon Ritam haat’ta dhore tanbe..)

Snigdha: Charo.. Choro mere haat.. Humko spot mein pouchna hoga! I’m
already late.

Ritam: (Ghumanto tone) Aj toh robbar! Ghumao toh.

Snigdha: Ritam! Please..

(Snigdha haat’ta chariye khaat theke neme gelo..)

(Dissolve. Cut 2.)

Scene 2.3. Int. Montage shot. Ishika’s room.. Ishika is sitting on the
bed.. Ghor ta besh smoky.. She’s looking outside the veranda.. Ekbar edik
odik takalo.. Tarpor matha’ta nichu korlo... (Shot will be taken from her
back)

(Cross Dissolve.) (Cut 2)

Scene 2.4. Int. Snigdha’s room. Snigdha edik odik hatte hatte, movement
korte korte kotha bolbe.. Ritam will be sitting at a corner of the bed..

Snigdha: Ami toh moja korar jonyo berocchi na!


Ritam: Moja korar kotha tullam koi? Robbar’tao ekhon baad jacche na setai
bollam!

Snigdha: So? So what? (Ritam’er samne dariye) Journalist hu.. Government


employee nehi. 6 mahiney do-do bar promotion mila, thik hein! Self
independent hu mein.. Ei bangali bou’der moto bosey khete amar family at
least amay sekhayni! (Moves to the dressing table)

Ritam: (In a mocking way) Biriyani chere ki kore je idli dosha kheye boro
hole jani na!

Snigdha: Brahmin tha hum.. Bohot norms hein ha, hamare cast mein!

Ritam: Snigdha, ei family’tao Brahmin, okay? Seta bhule jeo na.

Snigdha: Koto norms mano tomra bangali’ra dekha ache, baire ei joto haab

Ritam: That’s completely our personal matter.

(Snigdha was combing her hair.. Kotha’ta shune comb ta namiye ghure takiye
bollo..)

Snigdha: Tumi tahole ki kore expect koro ami Sunday jete parbo na kothao.
Kaaj thakle jabo... Byass.. (Ritam er pasey ese dariye bag’e camera bhorlo,
ar cigarette ar litter’ta dhokalo, tarpor Ritam’er dike takiye bollo..)
Breakfast’e bread ache, mayo ta fridge’e ache, sugar-free’ta tomar
study’te.. Dupure na firle Swiggy theke kichu aniye nebe. Choli! (Bole
ghure beriye jacchilo, abar ghure Ritam’er samne ese bollo..) And listen,
don’t call up Buddho and Sid over here! Botol dekhle udum kelabo. Bye.
(Hugs Ritam says “love you, take care”.. Ei bole chere beriye gelo ghor
theke.)

Ritam:(mone mone bollo) Besh korbo amio khabo..

[Ritam dhrigyo-niswas nilo.. Khaat theke neme phone’ta dressing table theke
niye edik odik takiye ekta number search kore, dial kore kaane dilo]

Ritam: E buddho! Bari achis mama!...Ei shon na amar bou nei barite.. Na na
bikeler agey kono chance nei ferar... Tui maal niye chole ay.. Nip ann,
areh dhur baal ja icche ann. Ajke jomey jabe just.. Who cares? Ei bari
ekhon amar, idli-dosha barite nei.. Yaaa! Taratari, okay?

(Ritam phone’ta kete dressing table’e rakhlo..)

(Focus on that. Cut 2)

Scene 2.5. Ext. Snigdha is waiting for an OLA to come outside her flat.
Edik odik takano, bar bar ghori dekha. A car came infront of her. Another
lady was sitting inside the car. Snigdha entered inside and gave a smile to
the lady. The car starts..(Cut 2. Dissolve)
Scene 3.1. Int. Morning. Kolkata’r ballygunge’r mesh bari. Eliza is
reading newspaper, sitting on the bed. Vasundhara brought two cups of
coffee. Ekta Eliza’k dilo, ekta Vasundhara haatey niye boshlo... Suddenly,
a call came Eliza’r phone’e. Eliza phone’ta kaaney niye bollo...

Eliza: Ha bol re! (Vasundhara ishara te jigges korlo “ke”... Eliza phone’ta
tap kore bollo) One of our college mate.. Journalism department.. (Abar
kaaney dilo phone’ta) Ha bol!.. (Obak hoye) What!.. Kokhon! (Vasundhara
obak hoye takalo) Kal ratre!..Na Na ami jani na... Ha tui ekhane ese call
koris amay. I’ll catch you up.. Yup.

[Eliza phone’ta namiye rekhe onyo dike obak hoye takiye roilo.. Vasundhara
jigges korlo..]

Vasundhara: Eli! (Eliza takalo) What happened?

(Eliza abar shamne takalo..)

Eliza: (Vari golay) A rape...

Vasundhara: Where? And ke phone korechilo? And who’s the victim?

(Eliza Vasundhara’r dikey takalo and said..)

Eliza: Amader paray, Ishika naamer ek college student. Snigdha called, o


bollo cover korte asche news ta.

Vasundhara: (Onyodike takiye atonkke bollo..) Abar ekta meye!

(Eliza’r chokhe goray jol, Vasundhara’r khaade haat rekhe bollo..)

Eliza: Abar dress’er dohai, somoy’er dohai dewa hobe nah! (Looked at
Vasundhara’s face and smiled..)

(Cut 2.. Dissolve)

Scene 3.2. Ext. Ola’te.. Dwitiya was sitting just beside Snigdha.. Was
feeling a bit uneasy after hearing what Snigdha said over call.. Ektu
interest jegeche, byapar’tar sommondhye janar. Tai wait na kore ghure
takiye bollo..

Dwitiya: Excuse me!

(Snigdha was doing somethimg with her phone.. Dwitiya daktei she looked at
her and gave a smile and said…)

Snigdha: Ha bolun!

Dwitiya: I’m Dwitiya Banerjee. I used to work for women developmental


society... I heard what you said on call.. Ami ki jante pari mane exactly
ki hoyeche..
Snigdha: Oi toh, ballygunge’r okhane kal ratre ekta meye, mane college
student takey rape kora hoyeche.. What I heard from my chief was that
college fest theke ferar somoy eta hoy and the time was some around 11:30.
(Snigdha onyodike takay, kacher baire)

Dwitiya: I see! Ar kichu?

Snigdha: Na! Er baire ar kichu janina. By the way, I’m Snigdha Sengupta!
(Shake their hands) Amar Sahor’er photo journalist, majhe majhe I need to
take up the pen as well. (Smiles)

(Kicchukhon dujon baire takiye roilo, tarpor dwitiya interest dekhiye

Dwitiya: If you don’t mind, ekta kotha bolchi!... Ami jodi tomar sathe jai,

smiled. Snigdha takes up the call) Ha bolo, (Ektu jore bollo..) bread purey
geche toh ami ki korbo? Ki ajob!.. That’s your fault completely, as if ami
puriye esechi... Chaayer cup ami dhobo keno? Maid rakha hoyeche toh
barite.. Call her husband.. Ritam please! Ekta important kaaj’e jacchi.

(Dwitiya looked at her. Snigdha smiled.. and said..)

Snigdha: Sorry! My husband... Actually barite ki kothay ache kicchu jane


na.

(Dwitiya smiled and said..)

Dwitiya: Happens!

(Dwitiya looked outside the window... Focus on her face.. Flashback)

[Cut. Dissolve]

Scene 3.3. Int. Morning sequence. Flashback. Dwitiya’s house.. She’s


sitting on a bed with the phone in a hand. Husband is working on the
computer..

Arka: (Birokti) Dhuss bara! (To Dwitiya) Ei je baal, kotobar bolechi pc’ta
sarate, eta sarate hobe.. Lok’ta dakte geley tomar ki fatey ektu bolbe?

Dwitiya: Janoi jokhon kharap ache.. Roj din nekami mere kata gae nuner
chite dao keno?
Arka: Boltam na, ha! Boltam na tomay thik ache (Move towards the bed) Tomar
bhaipo maal takey chude diye geche bolei bolchi. Disgusting!

Dwitiya: (Kanna kanna golay) Bolechilam toh sariye nao, ja lagbe diye debo
ami!

Arka: Jakey barite pathiyechilam, shey du’dubar esey chole geche bari
theke. Kon chuloy gechile?

Dwitiya: Baba pore gechilo tai dekhte gechilam.

Arka: (In a mocking tone) Ayy! Baba pore gechilo tai dekhte gechilam.
Uddhar kore felecho amay. Jao na jao. Roj oi baaper baritei pore thako.
That will be better for you.

Dwitiya: Tai jabo, ha tai chole jabo. Ei banerjee barite keu amay patta
daena. Okhane gublu, shonu, montu, mejo kaka, n kaka, sejo kaka, ful kaka,

Arka: (Obak hoye) Ekhono onek nam miss geche, ektu vebe nao thik bolte

[Cut. Dissolve]

Scene 4.1. Flash in. Morning. Ola stops. Dujonei namlo. Both paid the
bill. Ola leaves the place. Dwitiya asked Snigdha..(When Snigdha is busy
with her phone)

Dwitiya: Accha thikana kichu jano? Mane jabo kothay?

Snigdha: One of my ex-college mate stays over here. She knows, kothay jabo?

Dwitiya: Accha tahole toh bhaloi! Amar baper bari ekhanei. Ei shamnei just.
Chena jayga... Tai asholey jigges korchilam.

Snigdha: (Smiles and says) Accha besh. Na thik thak ta ami jani na asholey.
Tai ora ashuk.. (Call came in her phone, received it and said..) Ha re
bol!.. Ei toh just main road’e dariye. Ya ya, okay…… Shamne? (After looking
at Eliza) Ha dekhte peyechi. Wait jacchi!

(Road cross korbe.. Snigdha and Dwitiya.. Snigdha anonde hugged Eliza)

Snigdha: What’s up dude? Bohot palte gechis tui.

Eliza: Babah! Snigdha Iyer sposto bangla bolche, ke sekhalo bor na sashuri?

Snigdha: Thakte thakte shikey gechi. Hoy Hoy eram, eram vabei hoy. (Dwitiya
ke intro koriye) Meet she’s Dwitiya, right? Ola’te met. She’s a social
worker. And Dwitiya, she’s Eliza, khub kacher college mate ekjon.
Eliza: Nice to meet you. (Both shake their hands, with a smile)

Snigdha: Tor khobor bol? Ki korchis ekhon?

Eliza: Dhuss ki ar korbo. Bawal er jonyo band tao bondho hoye gelo. Puro
chude achi re.

Snigdha: Ar oi meyeta?

Eliza: Biye korbo re... Ektu settle hote de amader, ekhon toh just live in.

Snigdha: Niye eli na ekhane?

Eliza: O victim’er barir shamnei dariye ache.

Snigdha: Chol tahole hatte hattei kotha hok...

(Teenjon haate thaklo, pechon theke shot)

(Cut)

Scene 4.2. Ext. Morning. Siddhartha is walking down through the narrow
lanes of North Kolkata. (Dress: Half trouser and casual t-shirt)- A call
came in his phone- He waited at the side of the street.- Received the
call..

Siddhartha: Ha bol bhai... Ei toh barite.. Just ektu rastay beriyechi.. Na


na kal or sathe thakini. Emniteo derite firechi bole barite tumul bawal
hoyeche.. Thik nei re talshari jabo kina, rather bari theke permit debe
kina. Let’s see... Bhai o kolkata’r na, barir pressure nei. Ha, ha toke ami
janacchi. Chol bye.

[Siddhartha cuts the call.- Abar phone’ta niye he tried to call Ishita./
Opash theke switch off bollo/ He tried twice/ Again the same switched
off..]

(Intercuts)

Scene 4.3. Int. Morning. Phone is lying on the ground. Focus from that.
Ishika is sitting just beside the place where the phone was lying. Haat-
paa’r rape’er aghat gulo dekhe bar bar chokme utche and majhe majhe kanna..

(Cut)
Scene 5.1. Ext. Vasundhara is standing outside a building, smoking
cigarette. / Snigdha, Eliza and Dwitiya is coming from the other side/ They
came infront of Vasundhara/ Vasundhara ashes the cigarette.. And smiled at
Snigdha.. And said..

Vasundhara: Kemon achis?

Snigdha: Good and you? (Hugged each other) Onekdin por dekha holo.

Vasundhara: Yes! 10 years long... Married toh ekhon tui?

Snigdha: Ha.. Soshur-bari North’e. Office Central’e. Asa hoy na ekhon edike
ar. College life was interesting.

Vasundhara: Baccha-kaccha?

Snigdha: O bollo, agey ektu settle kori then. Tobe yes planning cholche.

Eliza: (Mode of interruption) Accha bolchi ki meyeta amader sathe kotha


bolte raji hobe?

Snigdha: Korate hobe raji. Korate hobe. Lets go inside.

(Eke eke 4 jon bhetore gelo..)

(Intercuts. Cross Dissolve)

Scene 5.2. Int. / Apartment’er bell bajhbe. / Ritam went to the door/
(Dress: khaadey towel/ Half pant)Opened the door/ Buddho was standing
outside the door with a black packet in his hand..

Buddho: (Surprise tone) Ki re pujo tujo korchis naki? (Moved inside the
flat)

Ritam: Na na.. Ei just snan tan sharlam.

Buddho: Tai bol, ami bhablam, onyo case. (Edik odik takiye) Bou koi?

Ritam: Nei. Khobor hoyeche, chute geche.. Bhaloi hoyeche baal nei.

Buddho: Ha bhaloi hoyeche. (Packet ta dekhiye) Eta rakhbo kothay..

Ritam: Rakh na kothao ekta. Soda enechis na soft drinks?

Buddho: Norom, gorom, much-muche sob ache ei packet’e. Konta agey nebe seta
tumi’e thik koro...

Ritam: Babah tui toh dekhchi khelowar hoye uthechis. Dara cigarette ta ani!

Buddho: Chap nei setao ache. Chicken-ticken kichu ache?


Ritam: Fridge ta dekhte hobe re! Jani na. Snigdha toh bollo swiggy theke
anate. Dara dekhchi.

Buddho: Babah, tor life’ta puroi digital na re?.. Card’e pay korish, cash’e
noy, cigarette o paytm’e kinish... Bara baccha kaccha o ki online e pre-
order kore rekhechis.. Jhop kore bolbi, saat din’e ese jabe. (Both laughed
loud)

(Cut 2)

Scene 5.3. Int. Barir’r baire 4 jon dariye./ Vasundhara bell bajate
jacchilo/ Hothat lokkhyo dorja khola./ Vasundhara Snigdha’r dikey takalo..
Then pushed the door slowly.. and went inside./ Stood infront of a room/
Ishika is still sitting at the same place./ Snigdha said..

Snigdha: Hello! I’m Snigdha Sengupta. I’m coming from Amar Sahor, and..

(Sesh howar agey, Ishika vari golay bollo..)

Ishika: Ami bangali, banglay bolte paro...

Vasundhara: (Ektu egiye bollo) Tomar ghorer dorja’ta khola chilo, tai sorry
amra dhuke elam.

(Ishika looked at Vasundhara and smiled and said)

Ishika: Rapist, Journalist, Politician sobai highly welcomed. Tai dorja


khola.. Amar ar rape hote bhoy nei kono.

(Focus on 4 Face)

(Dissolve)
Series 2.
Scene 6.1. Int. North Calcutta’r bonedi bari. Siddhartha ekta bajarer bag
niye ghore dhuklo. Ekta ghorer shamne bag ta rekhe ghore dhuklo.. Khaate
boshlo…/ Phone’e try korlo/ But switched off bollo.../ Phone’ta khate chure
fello/ Entered a girl inside the room..

Harshita: Kal hua kya tha tujhko?

Siddhartha: Kya hoga?

Harshita: Raat 1’tay ghore firechis, tao bawal kore.

Siddhartha: Bola tha toh fest hein college pein.. Tui ar bawal dishna toh
didi.

Harshita: Bawal ke dilo?..Next year papa is retiring from his post, ar tui
ekhono 1st year pass korishni. Tao last 3 shaal dhore.

Siddhartha: I’m trying, bollam’e toh.

Harshita: (Halka cheyechi) Ar koto trying, ha? Ekta limit toh ache naki!
Teen bar fail, onyodike college, modh, politics, meyebaji sob cholche.

Siddhartha: (Shouted and stood up from the bed) Just shut up! Nyaka sajish
roj roj, ha? Nyaka sajish? Tui ki kore beras, kya mujhe pata nehi? Roj
notun notun cheler garite bari firis, tui ki vabish ami jani na.. Bhetore
bhetore ki koris, toke dekhlei bojha jay!

(Harshita slapped Siddhartha.. Siddhartha stood up, took his mobile, and
moved away from the room)
