[a] Pre-Doctoral Work : National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore

STATUS: Completed - MARCH 1995

FAULT TOLERANCE MEMORY MANAGEMENT APPROACH FOR PARALLEL SYSTEMS

Component of failure in a system leads to abrupt stoppage of its activity. This system monitors, controls and
manages memory of applications based on its usage pattern. Mechanisms to handle and prevent fault is the primary
objective of this project which had been carried out on Parallel Processing systems.

[b] Doctoral work : COMPUTER SCIENCE, PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore

STATUS: Completed - JUNE 2004

DELIVERING QUALITY OF SERVICES FOR MEDIA STREAMING OVER IP NETWORKS

An analysis of QoS factors in multimedia protocols such as RTP (Real Time Protocol), RTCP (Real Time Control
Protocol), RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) and MGCP (Media Gateway Control Protocol), has been identified
that importance have not been provided to latency effects, throughput and fault tolerance issues. Real time media
streaming applications such as Media Conferencing, Video On Demand, Audio Play-out on Demand, require high
QoS factors. Multimedia protocols lack in adequate support for guarantee of performance measures of QoS metrics
and to manage complex components involved in runtime for serving audio / video transfer over distributed
networks.
This thesis aims to provide an effective and optimal QoS solution for media streaming applications on IP network.
The resultant network parameters such as number of packets lost, play-out delay and noise, determine the quality of
service (QoS) of media stream at play-out. These factors tamper the quality of streaming media leads to reduced
throughput and increase in latency effect and reduced MOS (Mean Opinion Score) value.

Post – Doctoral Work :

[c] Design and deployment of MANET in battlefield: DRDO, Delhi (funded project)
STATUS: Completed - MAY 2009

DEVELOPMENT OF ADAPTIVE QoS FOR MOBILITY AND CONTEXT AWARE ADHOC NETWORKS

This research work concentrates on providing an optimal QoS media services over AdHoc devices. This work
discusses on methods to organize and manage network multiple media-communication resources (mobile GRPS
devices, pagers, mobile net, PDAs and fixed location based networks) effectively, as well it also focuses on
maintaining the network quality of services (QoS) for media transfer, and fault management techniques using media
gatekeeper as an interface.

STATUS: Completed

ICT BASED FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR RURAL LIVELIHOOD

Proper livelihood in rural area suffers lot due to in ineffective communication setup which brings down the financial
knowledge and growth in villages and rural livelihood. This project provides a feasible setup of establishing
communication setup using mobile and wireless devices to inter link people living villages and financial institutions
together. The financial process of applying for loans, opening savings account, processing of loans are implemented
in this project.
