Navigation: Inventory ---> Setup--->Organizations--->Shortage

Enabling the Check Shortages Flag Indicates that the material
shortage check is enabled for WIP.

Enabling Each Flag will Trigger Notification on Different instance


as Listed Below.

Released: Indicates that all jobs/schedules with status


Released, whose scheduled start date is overdue, are included
in the material shortage check. This parameter is separately
controlled for jobs and schedules.

Unreleased: Indicates that all jobs/schedules with status


Unreleased, whose scheduled start date is overdue, are
included in the material shortage check. This parameter is
separately controlled for jobs and schedules.  

Privacy
Days Overdue: Indicates how many days can go by after the
jobs/schedules start date until jobs/schedules with status
Released or Unreleased are included in the material shortage
 AD
check. This parameter functions only if you checked Released or
Unreleased. This parameter is separately controlled for jobs and  POPULAR POSTS
schedules.

Procure to Pay (P2P) Process Flow in


Hold: Indicates that all jobs/schedules with status Hold are Oracle R12
included in the material shortage check. This parameter can be
separately controlled for jobs and schedules. Oracle Purchasing - Difference Between
Accrue on Receipt and Accrue at period end

Based on required date: Indicates that the required date


Oracle Inventory Shortage Parameters
specified for each component will be used to determine
whether the open requirement is late. This parameter is
separately controlled for jobs and schedules.

If assigned operation is due: Indicates that all discrete jobs or


repetitive schedules with a current operation that has assigned
open material requirements are included in the material
shortage check. This parameter can be separately controlled for
jobs and schedules.

If operation before assigned operation is due: Indicates that all 


discrete jobs or repetitive schedules with a current operation
before an operation that has assigned open material
requirements are included in the material shortage check. This
parameter is separately controlled for jobs and schedules.

Bulk Components: Indicates that components with supply type


Bulk will be excluded in the material shortage check.

Supplier Components: Indicates that components supplied by


vendor will be excluded in the material shortage check.

Pull Components: Indicates that pull components will be


excluded in the material shortage check.

Notify region: Select who will receive a workflow notification


about the material shortage.

Component Planner: The user name assigned to the item


attribute Planner for the component item will be notified.

Assembly Planner: The user name assigned to the item attribute


Planner for the assembly item will be notified.

Component Buyer: The user name assigned to the item attribute


Default Buyer for the component item will be notified. 

Job/Schedule Creator: The user name of the job/schedule


creator will be notified.             

Same Applies to the Order Management Tab

Enabling the Check Shortages Flag Indicates that the material


shortage check is enabled for Sales order 

Item Planner: The user name assigned to the item attribute


Planner for the item will be notified.

Order Creator: The user name of the order creator will be


notified.  

Now after this setup, If a User tends to Perform any Transaction


for the item which has check material shortage set to Y using
the transaction type which has shortage message actions
enabled will be reconciled by system and a Shortage
notification will be shown online or via workflow .
