1) With the help of neat circuit diagram and phasor diagram, Derive the equation for the
current for an pure inductive circuit and hence prove that power consumed by the pure
inductor is zero.

2) With the help of neat circuit diagram and phasor diagram, Derive the equation for the
current for an pure capacitance circuit and hence prove that power consumed by the pure
capacitor is zero.

3) Show that in an RLC series circuit, if XL > XC, then circuit behaves as simple RL circuit.
Hence derive the equations for voltage, current and power with neat circuit diagram and
phasor diagram.

4) Show that in an RLC series circuit, if XC > XL, then circuit behaves as simple RC circuit.

16) What do you mean by MCB? Explain the parts of MCB and hence its operation.

Numerical

17) A Circuit consists of a resistance of 10 Ω, an inductance of 16 mH and capacitance of

150 µF connected in series. A supply of 100 V at 50 Hz is applied across the circuit. Find
the current, power factor and power consumed by the circuit. Draw the vector diagram.

18) Find an expression for the current and calculate the power, when a voltage e = 283
sin(100πt) V is applied to a coil having R = 50Ω and L = 0.159H.

19) A RLC parallel circuit has three branches connected in parallel. One branch consists of
pure resistance of 10Ω. The second branch consists of a resistance of 20Ω and an
inductance of 0.1H. The third branch consists of a resistance of 15Ω and a capacitance of
150µF. If the circuit is connected across a 230V, 50Hz supply, calculate the total current,
