Introduction
AMD Adaptive S4 ACPI driver is a communication vehicle between the App and the BIOS’
adaptive S4 related ACPI objects.
There are one main functions for the filter driver.
1. Get AdaptiveTimers from ACPI objects and transfer AdaptiveTimers setting to ACPI
objects.

System Requirements
Ensure that you are using a supported operating system and have the adaptive S4 related ACPI
objects which is defined in BIOS.

Included Files
The following files are included in driver package.
File Description
x86\AmdAS4.sys 32-bit Adaptive S4 ACPI device driver
x64\AmdAS4.sys 64-bit Adaptive S4 ACPI device driver
AmdAS4.inf Installation setup script
AmdAS4.cat Digital signature (only if the driver is certified)

Installation Notes

These instructions explain how to install/uninstall the AmdAS4 driver:


Note: For driver installation, you must log in as administrator or have administrator rights for your
domain login.

The driver can be installed either by running the CIM installer or by Device Manager install.
Install/Uninstall Using INF File
To install
a. Run Device Manager, select device item which Device Id equal ASD0001/AMDI0050.
b. Right-click the device item, and then chose Update driver software, and then follow the
instruction step by step.
c. After installation is complete, reboot the computer.
To uninstall
a. Run Device Manager, select device item which Device Id equal ASD0001/AMDI0050.
b. Right-click the device item, and then chose Uninstall, and then chose delete driver software from
device. Then follow the instruction step by step.
c. After uninstall is complete, reboot the computer.

Using Catalyst Install Manager


You can install/uninstall the driver by running the CIM installer. This method will correctly show
the driver as WHQL certified in the Device Manager.
