Virtual Work Concept

Here are the key steps to solve this problem: 1. Draw a free body diagram of the platform and linkage showing all forces acting. This includes the weight force W, and forces from each hydraulic cylinder FDH. 2. Apply the principle of virtual work for a virtual angular displacement dθ of the linkage. Only the weight W and hydraulic cylinder forces FDH will do work. 3. Write the virtual work equation: δU = 0 = δQW + δQFDH 4. Express the work terms δQW and δQFDH in terms of the geometry, weight W, and hydraulic forces FDH. 5. Set the virtual work equation equal to zero and solve for the required
