Career –

1) To boss: co-worker’s performance -

I am sorry to have to be writing this letter, but there is a problem here that I really think
you need to know about. Srinivas has been doing pretty careless work and it has been left
to me to pick up his slack. I have spoken to svv about the situation, but he has refused to
change his ways.

I realize that, because you are working at higher level, you are not as immediately aware
of the daily nuts- and-bolts of what he and I do. But believe me, it is a serious problem.
My productivity is very badly affected by having to do his job as well as my own. Please
have a word with him and see if this situation can be resolved.

2) To boss: harassment by co-worker -

For the past several weeks, srinivas has been making my working life here extremely
unpleasant. He has made several inappropriate remarks which have made me very
uncomfortable. For example, to discuss with other team members about my capabilities,
and using vulgar language on me.

I avoided the problem for some time, and then tried speaking to him about it, but the
problem has continued. Now I have no recourse left but to ask you to intervene. As you
know, harassment of this kind is detrimental to the work environment and is also illegal. I
hope you can have a work with srinivas and put a stop to it. If you have any further
questions, please let me know. Thank you for your help.

3) To the boss’s boss: poor management skills -

I work in GBS division for vaidyanathan. I am writing this note because there is a
problem with vaidya that I think you should know about. Although he is very good in
configuration, the problem lies in his management skills. Many of us who work for him
are frequently disappointed in how he handles lanco implementation project. For
exemple, last week lanco properties asked demo about work in progress in project
system.

Obviously we can’t approach him about this, because we don’t want to put risk in our
jobs. Would you please have a talk with vaidya? I would appreciate it, and I know several
of my colleagues would as well. Thank you for your time
4) To co-worker: please keep it down –

We have got a pretty difficult setup here in the office, with all of us having to work in
such close proximity to each other. I know it is hard to have to keep that in mind all the
time, but I really do have to ask you to be a bit quieter. I don’t mean to sound harsh about
it, but you have a naturally loud speaking voice/loud laugh, and you spend a lot of time
on the phone.

Please try to speak in a softer tone of voice. It is extremely hard for me to concentrate on
my work with the volume level as high as it is. I appreciate you help on this matter, and I
hope you understand that I don’t mean to sound critical of you. I am just tryig to help
create a more comfortable and productive atmosphere here in the office.

5) Protesting poor evaluation –

This is a formal letter of response to the unfavorable evaluation I received from you on
last week. A copy of this letter is going to bipin and to HR manager. I believe the review
I received was unfair and inaccurate. The flaws you mentioned have never been pointed
out to me in the past, and I heard no mention of the following exceptional achievements I
have made in the past few months. These achievements include: export project
implementation, auto payments issues permanent solutions and training to other team
members etc.,.

It is my belief that Bipin slanted my evaluation negatively to serve his own personal
agenda, namely that (describe agenda). These are not valid reasons for negatively
evaluating my entire performance. I believe that this evaluation is incorrect and
unjustified.

Please respond to this protest and tell me what action will be taken regarding this
incident.
6) To Co-worker: Please improve performance -

As you know, we work together on many projects and I see a lot of what you produce.
Frankly, Kumar, I believe your work has been suffering as of late. Specially, you
communication. These mistakes and shortcomings of yours are making my job much
harder than it needs to be, because I spend a lot of time fixing your errors. I should not
have to do this.

I am telling this to you and you alone, and at the moment I have no intention of going
over your head. I would not bring it up if it was not creating such a problem for me

But it is. I hope you can address my concerns or else I will have to go over your head and
tell our boss about the situation. I really would rather avoid all those nasty politics, so
please try to do a better job.

7) Resignation due to persistent office problem –

I regret to inform you that this is a letter of resignation. I have struggled with this
decision for some time, but I believe it is the only course of action for me. As you know,
I have been deeply concerned about rating for number of months. Every time I have come
to you with my concerns, you have placated me and offered me soothing words, but have
never committed to taking any action to solve the problem. You have your own reasons
for this, obviously, but the result has been that I have found that my ability to enjoy this
job has completely disappeared. My job satisfaction is now zero, which makes this a
good time to quit.

Your leadership has taken us all to new levels, and I have appreciated all your personal
and professional advice over the years .Naturally I will stay until you are able to find a
replacement for me, if you so desire. I will also be glad to train that replacement, so that
you can be assured of uninterrupted service. I bear no particular ill will towards you or
this company; you clearly were doing what you thought was right. I am quitting not out
of anger, but only because I need to have a job that I can enjoy and in which I can take
pride.
8) To co-worker: let’s make up –

I know we have had some ups and downs here in the office over the last several months,
and that there has been a lot of friction between us. I think a lot of this friction is the
result of miscommunication more than anything else, and I would like to take this
opportunity to apologize for my part in the problem.

I would really like it if we could make an attempt to get along better, and I hope that we
can start to communicate more effectively. Perhaps you and I could have lunch together
one day and talk things over. We are going to be working together for a long time to
come, and it would be better for both of us if we had a mutually beneficial relationship.
Please let me know what you think.

9) Reporting co-worker’s dishonesty –

I am sorry to have to write this letter, but I must tell you that a situation involving srini
has arisen which I believe requires some attention. On several occasions, srini has taken
credit for work done by supporting team. I myself have been the victim of this behavior,
and I spoke to srini about it. He pretended it had been an innocent oversight-but I noticed
that it had happened on many other occasions.

Most recently, srini claimed to have best employee of the project when I know for a fact
that muni deserves most of the credit. This other person was not there to hear the
disservice done to him, which is why I feel I must bring this to your attention myself.
Srini is causing resentment and hostility within our group, because people do not like
being ellowed aside and denied acknowledgement for good work they have done. Srini
needs to be watched more carefully, and if possible, spoken to him about this harmful
dishonesty.

10) Request refund for child’s camp –

As you know, I enrolled my son, sai charan, for the session at your camp begining next
week. I sent this payment last week, and received the confirmation from you that the
payment had been received and processed, and that sai teja had been duly registered.

Unfortunately, it now seems that we will have to cancel these arrangements. Because of
not feeling well, sai teja will not be able to attend your camp this summer. He is very
disappointed by this turn of events, as are we; your camp came highly recommended, and
we were looking forward to our son having a memorable summer there. I would like to
know how I go back obtaining a refund. Please contact me at my below mobile or mail a
check to the below address.
Dear Gowtham,

I am writing to you today to officially tender my resignation from Kennametal

effective Friday, August 11, 2006.

I never thought I would ever leave such a great company as Kennametal, but
when the opportunity arose to own and operate my own vineyard in Napa, which
as you know has always been a lifelong dream for me, I simply had to take
advantage of it.

Thanks so much Gowtham. My experience at Kennametal has been rewarding and

productive, and I wish only the best for you -- and for the company. Your
leadership has taken us all to new levels, and I have appreciated all your personal
and professional advice over the years. It’s my hope that we will stay in touch as I
begin this new chapter in my life.

I will be happy to help train my replacement -- or do anything else you feel will
help make the transition smoother.

If you have any questions, please ask. Thanks again for everything.

Sincerely,
