DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
LONG TERM VISA WITH CERTIFICATE OF ELIGIBILTY (COE)

This visa allows a stay during which the applicant performs paid work in Japan, a stay of over 90 days in
Japan, Student/researcher/engineer etc.)

When an application for visa is made for the purpose of employment, residency, etc. in Japan, it is
necessary for a proxy in Japan to obtain the “Certificate of Eligibility” and for the visa applicant to file a
visa application to the Japanese embassy/consulate-general by submitting the original copy of the
Certificate of Eligibility.

In order to obtain the Certificate of Eligibility, the inviter / guarantor in Japan should make an application
with the Regional Immigration Bureau of the Ministry of Justice nearest to the inviter / guarantor place of
residence in Japan (an application for Certificate of Eligibility cannot be made at the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs).

Documents required are:

Important-Please note all photocopies should be on A4 size only

 A valid Passport (with more then two blank pages). Please submit your old passports also, if any.

 Photocopy of the Bio Data Page of the Current Passport (First and Last Page)

 A completely filled and signed Visa Application Form. The form is available under the link

 One photograph taken within the last 6 months. (The photograph should be of size 2 x 2 inches,
color with white background and printed on good quality paper)

 Original Certificate of Eligibility and one copy

 Experience Certificate

 Curriculum Vita (CV) (including all educational history to the highest, name, address and
telephone number of institutions / professional record indicating names of companies or
departments, address, telephone numbers, duration, position, and work details)

 Educational Documents (copy of certificates and mark sheets)

 In the event applicant is issued COE for study purpose; applicant is required to submit financial
documents of parents/sponsorer
