I. User Interface
1. New User Interface
In SWOOD 2019, all the user interface has been updated with new icons, dialogs, menus and tree
view (for SWOOD CAM). This update helps SWOOD to be more integrated in SOLIDWORKS
environment and
3. Interface 4K compatible
With the popularization of 4K screens, SWOOD 2019 is liable with this type of screens too in 3
different sizes.
The panel insertion window is now completely integrated to SOLIDWORKS PropertyManager for a
full integration to SOLIDWORKS interface.
The 2 first options are available with a right click in the graphic view (when the command is launched).
As in older versions, you can customize your panel name. Default name are set with
position_assemblyname (for example Left_TV_SET_Furniture).
You still have the choice between different values for the default name by positions (defined in
SWOODDesign.cfg file) and defined the panel to be inserted as a Virtual Component (only saved in
SOLIDWORKS assembly file and not as separate Windows file).
By accessing the panel insertion command with the New Panel button , we can then choose
the template of panel to use for insertion (from Panels Library) with button.
2. Panel definition
The main enhancement in this feature is on the definition of the panel inside the project environment.
Indeed, you can set both dimensions and positions (mates) in the graphic view without using any other
feature like SOLIDWORKS mates.
To position the panel, just drag the panel handle to orange points available in the graphic view. These
points display the different options of link with project environment (faces and planes). A Mates
window opened to select the reference to attach your panel edge. Default mate created is a
coincident mate.
The link creation is also available by selecting the reference in SOLIDWORKS graphic view.
When position is set, the handle is changed to a point. By clicking on this point, you can edit the
definition of your mate and change the type to a distance or suppress the mate.
When you set the opposite panel edge (Left/Right and Front/Back), you define the dimensions of
your panel too.
When multiple references are available on the same definition point, you will see the list inside the
Mates window and could select one.
An additional enhancement is the Design Tree available in the PropertyManager. From this unique
list you can select, edit and suppress all the panels mates. When a panel is completely defined, his
color become blue (instead of grey).
This way to insert panels is much easier and faster than previous versions’ one. And SWOOD 2019
offers additional shortcuts to be faster again. For example, when a panel is positioned and
dimensioned by default correctly, you don’t have to set the for edges and can press C key to set all
the edges at once.
When you want to duplicate a panel with a different position, you just have to press Ctrl key and drag
the initial panel in the thickness direction. All the edges mates are duplicated too, and you can link the
last position only.
3. Panel orientation
One of the key points when inserting a panel is to well define its orientation with. When selecting a
positioned panel, there is a default orientation set (top face inside the project). We can easily identify
the top face in purple and the font edge in pink. All the other panel faces are in grey.
In some case, like when we duplicate a top panel to create the bottom, we want to invers the panel
orientation. For that, there are 2 shortcuts:
By right clicking on the panel, you find these 2 options too with others among Delete all mates, Delete
Panel, Define panel with coincident mates (C shortcut).
To leave this dialog, validate it with the OK button. It’s only at this time that SWOOD create
SOLDIWORKS components to complete the project. The complete list of panels, equations and mates
is available, you can click on it to display it in SOLIDWORKS graphic view.
You can now use Edit Frame command to change the dimension of your project.
When editing a panel, the Equations are already defined, and you can find the SOLIDWORKS mates
in the FeatureManager Design Tree.
4. SWOOD script
SWOOD script is used from the first version in SWOODBox and Connectors features. We can find
this programming language in SWOOD Center Configurator from SWOOD 2018 too. It has always
embedded standard function to manage numerical parameters as mathematic operations (+, -, *, /)
and FIX. This year, we complete SWOOD script with new function to manage string variables.
Below you will find a table describing new SWOOD Script functions and example how to use it.

In SWOOD 2019, the Clamex operation is now available, this feature will allow you to make your
Clamex machining easier.
1. Clamex in OP0
All the different case are done on the OP0. We do not have to create or work on a specific plan to
achieve this operation.
2. Auto Clamex
The other new feature is the Auto Clamex operation done on the OP0 and without selection on the
panel.
