    Casting Info:
    SCOTLAND, PA will audition at Late Fall Generals in the musicals room on September 29th & 30th.
    There will be one day of callbacks on Saturday, October 6th in Wirtz 215. Specific times will be sent
    out with the callback list.
    It is possible for students to be cast in a Wirtz production, StuCo show, or another AMTP workshop/
    reading, as long as the rehearsal and performance schedules do not conflict.

    About the Show:


    The new musical version of SCOTLAND, PA takes its inspiration from the film of the same title, which
    is itself inspired by Shakespeare’s MACBETH. Shifting that story of murderous ambition to America
    in the 1970s, SCOTLAND, PA follows Joe and Pat McBeth, a pair of downtrodden hamburger stand
    employees. Pat decides that the boss and his old ideas are keeping everyone else from getting ahead,
    so she encourages bewildered Joe to take action. Things quickly take a turn for the deadly, and soon
    the McBeths find that their stars are on the rise (just as a bunch of hippies in the woods had
    predicted). But when a police investigator takes an interest in the duo, they must act fast to keep the
    truth (and the bodies) hidden before the fast food empire they fought so hard to build comes
    crashing down on top of them.

    About the Reading:


    This project will rehearse on the weekend and during the evening during the week; please see the
    attached schedule for more detail. Students will need to be available for all of the times indicated.
    While memorization won’t be required for the reading, you will be asked to learn music quickly and
    retain information in a short time, so conflicts with the schedule will likely not be accepted. The
    writers will be in residence for the whole process.

    leading artists in music theatre to work with Northwestern’s faculty, staff and students. AMTP’s goal
    is to nourish and invigorate American music theatre by developing and producing new musicals;
    increasing opportunities for education and training with Northwestern’s theatre, music theatre and
    dance programs; and creating new connections between professional and academic communities.

    MAC Male. Early 30s. Ruggedly handsome, blank, and magnetic.
    Pop/Rock Tenor to Bb (full-voiced to high A).

    PAT Female. Early 30s. “Girl-next-door”, dark, and insistent.


    Alto/Mezzo, strong belt to E.

    PEG MCDUFF Female. 40s. Chatty, cheerful, and shrewd. Alto, belt to D#.

    BANKO Male. Early 30s. Perpetually stoned, sweet, and lonely.


    Tenor/Baritone to Ab (full-voiced to G).

    DUNCAN Male. Mid 50s. Stiff, officious, and practical.


    Baritone/Bass to C.

    DOUG Male. Early 30s. Weasly, condescending, and confident.

    If you audition for SCOTLAND, PA, please be sure to indicate your vocal range on your
    audition form.
    As you look at the casting breakdown, please don’t stress too much about the vocal ranges.
    This is a new musical and things can be adapted as necessary. Show us who you are and
    we’ll figure the rest out!
    Students are eligible and will be considered for all roles.
