    Adverbs of frequency go:

    • Before an action verb eg. She usually walks to work


    • After verb to be eg.. I am never late at work

    a) Ask your partner questions regarding activities given by teacher and write down the answer in a
    sentence.

    Question: How often do you eat liver? Partner answer: I never do

    Present simple – Present progressive
    Read about the uses of Present simple and present progressive and thin of one more example for ach use.

    The present simple is used for:


    • Permanent situations: Chin lives in China
    • Repeated habitual actions: We usually go to my parents’ house
    • General truths: The Moon goes around the Earth.

    Time expressions:
    Always, often, usually, never, etc
    Every day/every week
    On the weekend
    Once/twice/ three times a week, a day…
    On Mondays/ Monday mornings

    The present progressive is used for:


    • Actions happening now: She’s wearing a white dress
    • Temporary situations: I’m having fun
    • Future arrangements: Some friend are visiting us next week

    Time expressions:
    Now, at present, at the moment, today, these days
    This week/ year
    Next week/ day
    Tonight/ tomorrow

    STATIVE VERBS

    The following verbs are not normally used in progressive tense:


    Verbs of senses: see, hear, feel, smell, taste, notice, seem
    Verbs of emotions: love, hate, dislike, want, need, prefer, mind, etc
    Verbs of perceptions: know, agree, think (believe), believe understand, remember, hope, imagine,
    mean.
    Other verbs: be, have (for possessions)
