3 KKS For GT13,14

This document describes the KKS (Kraftwerk-Kennzeichen System), an identification system used at the KAPCO power plants. The KKS uses a three-part code to identify units, systems, equipment, and locations within the plants. The code includes the unit number, process identification or system code, and room identification. It allows all components within the plants to be clearly classified and located. The identification structure has four levels maximum, becoming more specific from left to right. Examples of identified units and systems are provided to illustrate how the KKS is applied.

KKS (Identification) System

KKS I DENTIFICATION S YSTEM

1.0 I NTRODUCTION
Planning, construction and operation of power plants necessitate a uniform
identification of the individual plants, systems, equipment units and their
connections, which covers all applications. Thus on all KAPCO units, a common
language and a common identification is used. A German identification system
is implemented at Block 1 & 3 the KKS (= Kraftwerk-Kennzeichen System, i.e.
Identification System for Power Plants). A similar French identification system
called “Coded Designation” is used at Block 2 (GT 5-8 & ST 11, 12).
The identification system makes it possible to clearly classify the numerous
components of a plant. An easy overview and processing of the plant during
operation, maintenance, trouble-shooting and planning is thereby achieved.

2.0 KKS S TRUCTURES AND A PPLICATION

2.1 Basic Structure
The KKS comprises 3 types of code:
 Unit number,
 Process-related identification or System code in the power plant process,
 Room identification for encoding topographic locations (compartments,
floors) of plants and equipment units in buildings.
Fig. 2.1 shows an overview of the contents of the different identification types.
The three types of identification are uniformly structured. The identification
comprises 4 levels as a maximum. It denotes, from left to right, progressively
smaller units. Mounting location and topographic location codes do not include
the "component" level.

2.2 Application of the identification types

2.2.1 Process – related identification
The process-related identification facilitates – for the total plant - a
function oriented and/or process-oriented subdivision by which
equipment units and components of mechanical, civil, electrical and I&C
engineering can be addressed. Figs. 2.2a & 2.2b show some examples of
process-related identification.

2.2.2 Room Identification

This type is used to identify structures, buildings, compartments and fire
areas to specify the topographic location of plants, plant components
and equipment units.
First part or Level 0 tells the Unit number and second part Level 1 tells
the building or structure. Level 2 is not used in this application.

2.3 Structure and contents of levels

For reasons of clarity, memorization and uniqueness, the KKS numbers are alpha-numerically
structured. Following table shows the structure of levels.

2.3.1 Level 0, Total Plant

It is necessary to identify number of Gas Turbine or Steam Turbine, non-
unit-specific plants or plant extensions within KAPCO in a manner that
clearly denotes them as separate entities. Level 0 serves for this purpose.
