Lab 4

The document discusses troubleshooting common computer network and performance issues. It describes steps to check network connectivity such as using the ping command or opening the network troubleshooter. Potential causes of slow performance are outlined like low memory, full storage, or background programs. Solutions proposed include cleaning storage, disabling unused programs, and emptying the recycling bin. The document also defines APIPA addressing that is automatically assigned when a DHCP server is unavailable.

Ping: Ping is the best tool to check the network connection on an

outgoing basis. By Using Ping to identify network hosts that respond to
ICMP requests, we can use Ping to constantly submit Ping requests and
find that whether you currently have connectivity to the host. If you are
experiencing connectivity problems, a Ping loop will indicate whether
your connection is active at any given time.

To start a Ping loop, go to command prompt and type

Ping -t IP address

If reply will come out then this show that packet has successfully sent
and if request time out appears then this indicate that computer did
not receive a response from the remote host. The following example
indicates how to monitor the connection to a host at the IP address

How to solve this problem:

1. Clean Hard Drive: - When your hard drive memory is full, it slows
down your computer because the operating system doesn’t have
enough free space to work then we need to delete unwanted data.
This will speed up your PC.

performance so double-click the Recycle Bin icon on your desktop,
right-click anywhere and select ‘Empty Recycle Bin.

3. Disable background programs: A slow computer is often caused by

too many programs running simultaneously, taking up processing
power and reducing the PC’s performance. Some programs will
continue running in the background even after you have closed them
or will start automatically when you boot up your computer.

APIPA: It stands for Automotive Private IP Addressing. It provides DHCP

auto configuration addressing. APIPA assigns a class B IP address from
169.254.0.0 to 169.254.255.255 to the client when a DHCP server is
either permanently or temporarily unavailable.

CONCLUSION: To Conclude, lots of troubleshoot problems are present

which can be solve by using networking tools.
