STARTERS
PICK ONE - 15 POINTS

1. Vocabulary Flashcards:

Choose 10 vocabulary words from The Great Gatsby.

Find quotes from the novel where the word is used and

provide a definition in your own words. Complete this

2. Fun with Poetry

Write a free verse poem about an important event,

character, or symbol in the novel. Please include

figurative language to describe the event, character, or

symbol you choose. Type your poem using Microsoft

Word or Google Docs

3. Mind Map of the 1920s

Create a mind map describing significant events from

the 1920s. What was happening during this period? How

do these events relate to the setting of the novel and

which events are reflected in the novel? Create a mind

map using Popplet.com

MAIN COURSE
PICK ONE - 25 POINTS

1. Timeline

Create a timeline explaining the main events in the novel.

Think in terms of when did the event happen? Where did the

event happen? Why did the event happen? How did the

event event? You may complete this assignment by hand or

digitally. If you choose to create the timeline digitally, please

use Visme.com

2. Act it out!

Find a group of 3 to 4 students and put on a performance.

Pick a major event that you found interesting or one that you

enjoyed reading about the most. Present the event in front

of your classmates. Be creative! Use props, visuals, or

costumes. The choice is yours.

3. Graphic Organizer

Create your own graphic organizer using Microsoft Word or

Google Docs. Compare and contrast any 2 characters of

your choosing. Make sure you complete the entire organizer.

Requirement is 1 page minimum. You may go over that limit if

you choose.

DESSERTS
PICK ONE - 35 POINTS

1. Interview a Character

Choose one character to interview. What would you want

to ask them? How do you think they would respond to your

questions? What would they be wearing for the interview?

How would they act? What lessons would they teach you?

Write a minimum of 500 words. You may choose to

handwrite or type your interview.

2. CSI - Who Killed Myrtle Wilson?

Create a PowerPoint investigating the death of Myrtle

Wilson. Please determine what happened to Myrtle, how

and when it happened, list the physical evidence, list the

witnesses and their statements, gather evidence from the

text and determined who killed her and why. Find a group

of 3 to 4 students and present your findings to your peers.

3. Alternate Ending/Fan Fiction

If you did not like the ending of The Great Gatsby or

thought it was going to end a different way, write an essay

and create an alternative ending. What did you want to

happen? What did you think would happen? What would

you change about the ending? Would do you think is going

to happen now after finishing the novel?
