Schoolers

Introduction

Being able to communicate well is important. There will be different people to

communicate with, (Caresearch, 2019). The ability to communicate effectively is a key skill, and

the better we are at it, the better our quality of life will be. A child who is good at communicating

verbally will find it easier to produce written communications but nowadays, social media

became a huge way for people and mostly students to communicate to others. Humans are social

animals. We always like to remain in some group or another, and we prefer to follow what this

group does. All of our traditions and cultures are the product of this group-oriented facet of

human nature. There are many reasons on why students or grade schoolers used social media as

their tool of communication to their fellows also some are just going with flow of our

technology. Nowadays, students are no longer interested in reading books, socializing because of

social media but some gain a lot of friends because of social media. We cannot easily judge the

use of social media today because it helps people in many ways especially in communication

As per the survey conducted by (Pew Research Center 2015), 72 percent of high school

and 78 percent of college students spend time on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. These

numbers indicate how much the student community is involved in this virtual world of social
networking. Awareness is very important because maybe some abused the role of social media in

our world and some specially students are one of the prone of social media's effects. Social

cannot stop the users to spread information's, knowledge and more. The major thing to it is, use

it a proper way on how to communicate with other. Awareness is very important because maybe

Review of Related Literature

BLIND SPOT: how the grade schoolers used social media as a communication tool

Dennis Relojo-Howell (2019) The use of social media in education provides students

with the ability to get more useful information, to connect with learning groups and other

educational systems that make education convenient. Social network tools afford students and

institutions with multiple opportunities to improve learning methods.

Gutpa (2015) says that, Social media helps professors to be connected to their students

off campus as well as with their ex students. Professors use social media as a way of teaching by

creating groups and accounts for students where the information can be accessed. Professors can

share ideas with each other and point students to Linked In and Facebook. Professors create hash

tags that allow students to tag their academic posts, and view submissions to see what the

collective has creatively produced. This phrase will help our research to know that it is one of the

advantages of social media as a tool of communication for students. Even grade schools are

doing this kind of connection with their professors on social media. It could be on their academic
purposes or even gathering information’s from their professor.

Social network tools afford students and institutions with multiple opportunities to

improve learning methods. Through these networks, you can incorporate social media plugins

that enable sharing and interaction. Students can benefit from online tutorials and resources that

are shared through social networks and LMS’s. There is valuable knowledge to be gained

through social media such as analytics and insights on various topics or issues for study

purposes. Social media is also a medium where students can establish beneficial connections for

their careers. As an educational institution, it is crucial to be active in many social platforms

possible, this helps create better student training strategies and shapes student culture (Dlamini

2019). This phrase proves that social media very valuable for students to gain information’s, a

tool for communication and also by improving more their learning methods.

Wade (2019) write the Empowering Effects, Starting from elementary school up until

university graduation, social media has the role to empower parents, students and teachers to use

new ways of sharing information and build a community. Statistics show that 96% of the

students that have internet access are using at least one social network. What’s even more

extraordinary is that, even though some of the students use the social networks for entertaining

and other purposes, there are a lot of them that actually use it to promote a lot of positive and

useful activities. From finding a summer internship, promoting a success story about how to win

the student-loan battle or collaborate on international projects, everything is made possible. This

phrase says that we all knew that even in elementary up to college social became a big part of
education. Most of the schools enter social media as a way of giving some activities answered by

the students. It also one of the advantages for teachers for their students to be more interested on

the advance way to answer the said activities through social media.

Objectives of the Study

1. To determine the ways on how do grade schoolers use social media as their

communication tool?

2. To know the impact/s of social media in the grade schoolers as their communication tool

Statement of the Problem

This study will determine how grade schoolers used social media as a tool of

communication among the selected grade schoolers of Sto.Tomas Elementary School.

Scope and Limitation

This study took place on Biñan Sto. Tomas Elementary School S.Y. 2018-2019. The

study focuses only on the Selected Grade Schoolers using Social Media as Communication Tool

on Binan Sto.Tomas Elementary School. The data were gathered from selected Grade schoolers

on Binan Sto.Tomas Elementary school.

Significance of the study

This study will be undertaken to find out how do grade schoolers use Social Media as

their communication tool on Binan Sto.Tomas Elementary School. This study will be greatly

help and benefited and highly significant especially to the following:

To the students, In this study, the findings of this research will help, inspire, enlightened

and become beneficial to the students of Binan Sto. Tomas Elementary School.

To the teachers, the study will be beneficial to the teachers to know how effective social

media as communication to their students. Also to be aware on the impact of using social media.

Through this research they can have the primary knowledge about the social media as a tool for

communication of grade school students.

To the parents, parents will understand why their children use social media as a

communication tool for students in the class through the data provided.

To the future researchers, this output would serve as a guide on conducting future study

on the same topic.
