Safety Information
You really should read this part!
When cycling in traffic at night, always be sure to use both a front & a rear light (rear
lights should always be red).
The main objective of cycling lights in traffic is to be seen by motorists. You can use
the strobe function on your Magicshine light (MJ808 only) to ensure maximum
visibility.
Your Magicshine light is VERY BRIGHT so you should avoid aiming it directly at
oncoming motorists & pedestrians (they will flash you – the motorists I mean)
Your Magicshine light comes equipped with a Lithium Ion battery. This is an
advanced type of battery which is used in many devices like cell phones, laptops,
PDA’s, etc.
Although every precaution has been taken to ensure its safe operation, you should
observe the following:
Never leave the battery on charge unattended. In other words, once its
finished charging, unplug the charger. Avoid leaving it charging overnight or
while you are not at home.
Use only the supplied Lithium Ion charger to charge the batteries.
Lithium Ion batteries require a specific type of charge, known as constant-
current - constant-voltage.
A charger designed for other types of batteries will not work and could result
in batteries exploding and catching alight.
Modern bike lights like the Magicshine light come with a high powered LED (bulb)
which generates a significant amount of heat, especially when running at its highest
setting.
The aluminium light-head is designed to draw this excess heat away from the LED
and disperse it into the air.
This process works very efficiently while outside with moving air passing over the
light (like when you are riding your bike).
But when stationary the light head can become very hot when left on its High setting.
It is recommended that you turn the light to a lower setting when you will be
stationary for more than a few minutes at a time.

1. Connect the battery to the charger - The charge LED will turn Green
2. Plug the charger into the power outlet and turn the power on - The charger
LED will turn Red indicating that the battery is charging. A full charge from
empty will take approximately 4hrs.
3. Once fully charged the LED will turn Green, unplug the charger and
disconnect the battery.
4. Now go out and ride!!
When the battery reaches 20% capacity the tailcap will turn red. If you are out riding
and this happens, you should immediately switch the light to the Low or Strobe
setting to conserve power and avoid being left stranded in the dark.
NOTE: It is advisable to always ride with some form of backup light. Keep a flashlight
or small LED headlamp on you in case your ride ends up being longer than you
bargained for.
