In the starting of the year 2020, there was an outbreak of an infectious virus called
coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) was first found in
Wuhan, China. WHO mentioned that the coronavirus comes form snakes or bats. People in China also said that it came from people in Wuhan who eat snakes or bats as their meals and then this virus spreads globally. WHO also mentioned that COVID-19 has become a pandemic. COVID-19 is “similar to but distinct from” severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). COVID- 19 attacks the human lungs and spreads via water droplets when a person sneezes or coughs. It also can spread through surfaces of tables, chairs, and such where the droplets from sneezing and coughing fall. WHO spokesperson Carla Drysdale said that the most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, or diarrhea that are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people who are infected do not develop any symptoms and don’t feel unwell, while around 80 percent of people recover from the disease without needing special treatment. Time from exposure to onset of symptoms is generally between 2 and 14 days, with an average of 5 days. The purpose of this essay is to tell people of some actions that can prevent the COVID-19 from being spread, such as washing our hands frequently and socially distancing ourselves to other people. Firstly, washing your hands is one of the effective ways to prevent the COVID-19 from spreading. For example, when a person goes out to buy some daily necessities and the person touches a lot of surfaces that accidentaly have coronavirus 2 on it and then he does not wash his hands afterwards and the person has physical contact with another person, then that person will have coronavirus 2 also on his body. When you wash your hands, make sure to use running water and soap. Soap molecules have this tadpole structure, which is what makes it so useful because the coronavirus 2 molecules also have the same tadpole structure. It will disrupt the neatly-ordered shell around the virus, dissolving it in the running water and killing the virus. Do not touch your face, especially your eyes, nose, or mouth, when you hands are dirty because the virus can enter your body through those parts. Secondly, socially distancing ourselves to other peole will also help in preventing the COVID-19 from spreading. Social distancing is to distance yourself by avoiding crowds, public meetings, and not attending meetings in large groups. This means that you have to make a certain space or gap between a person and another that is enough to eliminate the virus transmission route. Social distance does not mean we must not do anything at home. We still can do our activities, such as working or studying, but at home. Even some people have their countries in lockdown. In brief, the preventive actions can be done by washing our hands frequently and social distancing. Do not lose hope because by doing those actions constantly, this virus disease may extinct in a few months.
