Caption is text appears below an image. Captions also include a short tittle or heading in
a article of magazine or newspaper.

Social function of caption :


The social function of caption is helping the reader or viewer to understand information
that may not be in a photo or a video.

Message in Caption :
Message in caption is words that someone wants to send to the readers or viewers.

The structure used in caption :


1). The tittle
2). The lead
3). Section headings

Rules of writing caption :


1). Caption must describe the image can use the word, sentences, or phrases.
2). Make sure the caption provides correct, accurate, and useful information.
3). Avoid using words ( showed, described, look on, above, below, etc).
4). Caption usually does not start with an article (a, an, or the ).
5). Using simple present tense.
The language features used in captions :
 Adjective phrases
Example : Beautiful house, very delicious, my black curly.
“I want to live in a beautiful house”.
 Exclamations
Exampe : : (using the initial word ) What, How.
“What a lovely day!”
“How brave!”
 Infinitive phrases
Example : To take her handphone, to read my novel, to other people.
“To read my novel is my hobby”.
 Participal phrases
Example : Playing basketball, being parked there, working in my room.
“Working in my room,I didn’t let someone else to disturb”.
 Prepositional phrases
Example : At school, because of rain, from my father.
“I got new car from my father”.
 Questions
Example : ( using the initial word ) What, where, when, why, who, whom, whose,
how.
“How does it work?”

Example caption :

“I want to life in beautiful house” “Education is a social process.

Education is growth.

Education is not a preparation for life,

Education is life it”.
