Narrative Report On Holy Rosary

The class prays the rosary together every afternoon before classes start to prevent disorderly behavior. Previously, students would misbehave prior to class, but praying the rosary together now drives out disorderliness. Having the daily rosary also teaches students to take their faith seriously and not just pray for a grade. It is a small devotional practice that helps the students grow in their Catholic faith.

A narrative report on the daily classroom activity, the rosary.

The Filipinos, being in a Catholic country, have the role to practice as a Catholic himself.
The said role is composed of appearing in certain rituals, sacraments, devotions, etc.1 One
particular devotion of a Catholic is praying the Holy rosary. It is an important prayer since the
word rosary itself means a “crown of flowers”, thus making the prayer the rose of all devotions. 2
This means that the rosary is just a basic yet an effective form of devotion for a Catholic to say.
In the class of Grade 8 Pearl, the adviser herself took the initiative to let the class pray the
rosary every day. This happens every noon before the first period of the afternoon classes starts.
The prayer is led by a student and the rest in the class will do the responses. This is just a simple
initiative in stopping the students lingering to nothing, and from letting oneself do nonsense
things prior to the upcoming class.
Before the initiative was materialized, the students prior to the upcoming class in the
afternoon were very disordered in a sense that what they do will have the chance to jeopardize
any physical possessions inside the room. Then by the occurrence of the idea, which is the
praying of the Holy Rosary every noon, disorderliness was being driven out from the class. Thus,
making the class keep out of mischief.
Moreover, letting the class pray the Holy Rosary is also an epitome for a values teacher’s
pedagogy. This strongly implies that the devotion is not done by the students only for the sake of
having grades but likewise to nurture and foster more the students’ religious life. Furthermore,
the activity is not limited only to happen in a Catechism and Values classes. With the time given
on afternoons that the devotion is practiced, this activity teaches the students that the Holy
Rosary should be taken seriously and must be done well, instead of doing it just for subject
compliance.
Therefore, having this activity done in the classroom of Grade 8 Pearl is somehow a
petite action for a student to practice one’s being as a Catholic. However, we do big things by
starting from small things, which also implies that being a devout Christian begins simply in
praying the Holy Rosary in the classroom.
