Conceptual Framework

This document discusses the conceptual framework for researching the feasibility of using alugbati stem extract as an ingredient in moisturizing soap. It outlines five aspects to be studied: market, technical, organization/management, financial, and socio-economic. The study aims to determine if a soap containing alugbati extract can effectively moisturize skin, be produced and marketed successfully, and provide benefits to consumers, businesses and society. The document defines key terms and outlines the study's scope, limitations and significance.

Conceptual Framework

This is the research paradigm of feasibility of Alugbati stem extract as moisturizing soap. The
alugbati has a scientific name Basella rubra linn stem extract that has undergone the following steps to
enter the market: Marketing Aspect which includes a description of the industry, current market,
anticipated future market potential, competition, sales projections, potential buyers and sources of
revenues. Technical Aspect assesses the details on how to deliver a product or service (i.e., materials,
labor, transportation, where the business will be located, technology needed, etc.). This also serves as a
flow chart of how the products and services evolve and move through the business to physically reach
the market. Organization and Management Aspect defines the legal and corporate structure of the
business. It may also include professional background information about the founders and principals of
the business and what skills they can contribute to the business. Financial Aspect is an assessment of the
financial aspects of something. If this case, for starting and running a business, it considers many things
including start-up capital, expenses, revenues, and investor income and disbursements. And lastly, the
Socio-Economic Aspect which deals with the positive quantitative and qualitative effects of the proposed
business to the social condition and economic situation of the country. Through these steps, a
moisturizing soap made from alugbati stem extract was introduced as a product of innovation. (Wolfe,

Statement of the Problem

This study aimed to determine the feasibility of alugbati stem extract as moisturizing soap.

Specifically, it sought to know the feasibility of the following:

a. Market

b. Technical

c. Organization and Management

d. Financial and

e. Socio-economic

Assumptions

The researchers assumed that Nature’s Touch moisturizing soap:

· Can give solution to the consumers who are searching for the soap which can moisturize their dry
skin the natural way. Nature’s Touch made used of alugbati stem extract because it possesses that
commercial like emollients. This helps the skin to be moisturized and soften.
· Researchers assumed that the consumers can afford to buy this moisturizing soap because of its
lower price. Nature’s Touch moisturizing soap that are going to produced in the market had already an
existing and strong competitors in this industry and in the world of cut throat competition ‘Quality’ at an
affordable price is the new mantra, the researchers are trying every measure to improve the quality of
the product by maintaining or at times even decreasing the price to make the product affordable and
competitive.

Significance of the Study

This research study would be of importance to the following:

Consumers. It will help the consumers moisturize their skin the natural way at an affordable price
especially for those who suffer dryness at their skin.

Soap Manufacturers. Soap Manufacturers will be benefited also with this study in a way that they will be
more inspired and motivated to manufacture a moisturizing soap made with natural resources.

Entrepreneurs. This study will provide an opportunity to the entrepreneurs who want to engage in
making moisturizing soap made with alugbati stem extract as the procedures and manufacturing process
are indicated on the study.

The Future Researchers. This study will not only serve as a basis or guidance in constructing better
research study but this will also increase the knowledge of future researchers as they get some ideas
what is moisturizing soap made with alugbati extract all about.

Scope and Limitations

The study was focused on the chemical component present in alugbati extract that enable it to
become a moisturizing soap. And as well as to the feasibility aspect of alugbati soap to the possible entry
in the market.

The researchers conducted a survey at San Fabian, Pangasinan. The study was focused on the
people who are residents of San Fabian from different barangays. Using the Slovin’s formula, the
researchers had a total respondent of 389.

The researchers limit the study on focusing only to the stem of alugbati as an extract and not
to include the leaves.

Soap remains an essential ingredient in modern living, used daily for medicinal, laundry

purposes, household cleansing and personal hygiene.

Commercial soaps, though cheap and plentiful, also come with many associated

dangers that the vast majority of consumers are largely unaware of. Fortunately, there

are plenty of natural, handmade soap alternatives on the market. However, few

consumers know this, and are putting up with the negative effects of commercial soap

without being fully aware of what they are putting on their skin day after day.

Commercial soaps contain a vast amount of harsh chemicals, additives, preservatives,

synthetic colors and fragrances, and antibacterial ingredients which can take a harsh toll

on one’s skin and health. Even soaps that claim to have special features such as killing

99% of germs, or “glycerin” soaps, are very often misleading – it is just as important for

consumers to be aware of these advertising gimmicks that commercial soaps use.

Moisturizers are widely used by patients with dry skin disorders and also by

people with healthy skin. Moisturizers have been shown to significantly improve skin

conditions and quality of life for psoriasis patients. They are a valuable first-line

treatment, as dry skin is common and adds to the irritability of the diseased skin.

Studies confirm that regular use of basic moisturizers can reduce skin reactivity to

irritants, although there are contradictory reports in the literature.

There is a vast array of moisturizers available on the market today and

consumer demand for these products is growing. These products range from value
brands that provide basic moisturization to luxury therapeutics with claims of anti-aging

benefits.

Soap is the most popularly used detergent for washing and for general cleaning

purposes. In the Philippines specially in Metro Manila, where busy people have limited

time in choosing the best brand of soap in the market. Some just look for soap with a

popular brand which offers a lot of benefits and which is reasonably priced. The

availability or demand for soap either powder, bar, or liquid depends on the average

usage of the people within Metro Manila. This area has a large population and basically

uses these 3 kinds of soap products and with this large demand, the number of

suppliers of producers has definitely increased. Such multinational, medium and small-

operation. The competition exists only in Metro Manila and most multinational and

medium producers have enough capacity to supply soap in other areas of the

Philippines.
