Ex 2 NE CESM2 MPLS Define Network

This document provides instructions for configuring a network of FOX615 devices for MPLS-TP. It outlines steps to: 1) Configure the ports on each node as MPLS-TP and connect them physically in a ring topology. 2) Define the network and assign global IDs and node IDs to each device. 3) Add all nodes to the known network elements table with their IDs. 4) Check that the MPLS-TP ports are configured correctly and any connectivity alarms are resolved before continuing.

FOX615 as MPLS-TP Multiplexer – PRACTICAL TRAINING EXERCISES

Exercise # 2: Define Network for MPLS

A. Prepare the Topology and MPLS-TP Ports

Each Node can be configured in a similar way.

In the Tree View browse to the CESM2 unit and Port 1.

Select Main and Port Type
In the table change the Usage to MPLS-TP and confirm with the ‘flash’ button

Select Main and SFP

Set Type Configuration = Type Status (e.g. 10GbaseLR)

Select Main and Admin And Oper Status

Change Admin Status to Up

Repeat for Port 2

Physically connect the optical patch fiber cables as shown in the diagram to form a ring

B. Define the Network and Node IDs

Each Node can be configured in a similar way

Select the MPLS-TP tab

Browse to MPLS-TP on the tree and select Network Elements (default)

FOX615 as MPLS-TP Multiplexer – PRACTICAL TRAINING EXERCISES

1. Define your own node as follows:

Enter the Global ID as shown on the diagram

Enter your own Node ID, and confirm

2. Add the IDs of all nodes in the network including your own as follows:

Click the + button

In the pop-up dialog, enter the Global ID and Node ID for the first node.
Also by default the Description is shown as “Node” followed by the Node ID
Click OK.
The details of the first node are shown in the Known Network Elements table.

Click the + button again

In the pop-up dialog enter the Local ID for the second node – actually, it should
automatically increment to display the next ID available. If necessary click in the Node ID
field – the Node ID should match the Local ID.
Click OK
The details of the second node are shown in the Known Network Elements table.

Repeat for all remaining Nodes – and confirm.

The table should now show entries for all the nodes in the network

C. Check the MPLS-TP Ports

In the tree, browse to MPLS Interfaces

Check the details in the table.
It should display the two ports that were set to MPLS-TP earlier.

Check the alarm list for any connectivity alarms.

Ensure that these are resolved before continuing
