RM Assignment 3

The theoretical framework provides the structure and justification for a research study. It identifies the key theories, concepts, and variables that inform the research questions and guides the methodology. Developing a strong theoretical framework is important as it demonstrates how the research addresses gaps in previous studies and connects all elements of the dissertation together in a coherent manner. The theoretical foundation underpins the researcher's perspective and allows them to philosophically and analytically approach the topic as a whole.

Research Methodology Assignment 3

Course: Research Methodology Professor in Charge: Dr. Sandeep Shastri

Submitted by: Praveen A
Topic: As a Researcher how important is to be familiar with the theoretical
foundations of your research topic.

The theoretical foundation is the framework from which all knowledge is

constructed for a research study. It serves as the structure and support for the
rationale for the study, the problem statement, the purpose, the significance, and
the research questions.

The theoretical framework is vital to all researches to clarify the implicit theory
in a manner that is more clearly defined. It provides researchers to consider their
limitations and alternative theories that challenge their perspective. It is what all
academic supervisors check in the first place.

Selecting an appropriate theoretical framework for dissertation research is an

important and necessary process. Think of the electrical system running through
a house: problem, purpose, significance, research questions, methodology, and
data analysis plan must flow through all rooms in your house, connecting all the
elements explicitly together to deliver power throughout the dissertation. All
rooms of a house require electricity. Similarly, all aspects of the dissertation
research should connect to the theoretical framework.

While making a problem statement and defining research questions, it becomes

necessary to search for the ideas and theories that have any relationship with
chosen topic. By giving such data, my frame work will show knowledge of key
theories, models, and concepts based on my subject.

A theoretical framework provides a strong scientific justification for my project

because it proves that existing theories support my research. Using literature
review it evaluates how others defined my key concepts and compare their
definitions to choose the best one for my case.
Research Methodology Assignment 3

To structure theoretical framework is by drawing on key terms and hypotheses.

Start with writing introduction to create readers’ interest in my subject.

Theoretical framework mentions previous research and unstudied areas to

identify a purpose of my work and discusses existing knowledge. Describing
proposed study can lead to a helpful investigation or gaps in previous research
and explain its foundation in broad terms.

Describing a case for my study and present relevant references, a literature review
is an important section of thesis, dissertation, or research paper, and theoretical
framework introduces it by mentioning major themes of proposed study.

The theoretical foundation is the “blueprint” for the entire dissertation inquiry. It
serves as the guide on which to build and support my study, and also provides the
structure to define how I can philosophically, methodologically, and analytically
approach the dissertation as a whole.,

The theoretical foundation consists of the selected theory that undergirds my

thinking with regards to how I understand and plan to research my topic, as well
as the concepts and definitions from that theory that are relevant to my topic.

The effective theoretical framework examines my thesis title and research

problem. The research problem anchors my entire study and forms the basis from
of theoretical framework. It brainstorms on the key variables used in my research.
Helps to review related literature to find answers to research question. List the
constructs and variables that might be relevant to my study. Groups all these
variables as independent and dependent categories.

Helps to review the key social science theories that are introduced in course
readings and choose the theory or theories that can best explain the relationships
between the key variables in study. Helps to discuss the assumptions or
propositions of theory and point out the relevance in research.
Research Methodology Assignment 3

To develop theoretical framework successfully, need to ensure that we connect

and develop a theoretical framework based on our review and knowledge of the
chosen academic subject. Helps to decide how to initially formulate research
problem. Reviewing relevant literature helps to find gaps. Description of
interesting variables in the context of literature review allows other people to
understand important theorized links or connections.

Start with describing current knowledge. Investigate other scholars’ theories to

identify the best one to explain major point because the key goal is to convey to
others why you think that your variables are relevant. It’s essential to include
previous research and theories to defend rationale.
