ABSTRACT
In this work, we have proposed a framework that can gather the data
identified with greenhouse environment and yield status and control the system
automatically in view of the gathered data.
To monitor the environment inside greenhouse different parameters have
been considered such as light, temperature, humidity, soil moisture etc. using different
sensors like temperature and humidity Sensor, LDR, moisture sensor etc. which will
be interfaced with Arduino Controller. It is a closed loop system that will execute
control action to adjust temperature, humidity, light intensity and soil moisture if any
unwanted errors (high/low) occur.

INTRODUCTION
A greenhouse is an exceptionally outlined homestead structure building to
give a more controllable environment to better harvest generation, crop security,
product seeding and transplanting.
In this thesis, we have proposed a framework that can gather the data
identified with greenhouse environment and yield status and control the greenhouse
consequently in view of the gathered data to foresee and follow up on circumstances
for splendidly controlled climatic 9 conditions.
By thickly observing climatic conditions, this exploration has the reason for
making relationship between sensors flags and reference estimations, breaking down
the development, advancement of yields and the natural variables to which they are
uncovered.
Moreover, control programming will give information procurement and
control, genuine time graphical show, dates and time labels the data and stores it for
present or later utilize. Also, by consistently observing various natural variables
without a moment's delay, an agriculturist has the capacity see how development
conditions are fluctuating, and respond to those progressions with a specific end goal
to expand effectiveness.

LITRATURE SURVEY

1. Kiran Sahu & Susmita Mazumdar [1] proposed Monitoring and control of
greenhouse environment play an important role in greenhouse production and
management. To monitor the greenhouse environment parameters effectively, it is
necessary to design a measurement and control system.

2. S.Thenmozhi [2]. The main objective is to design a simple, easy to install,

microcontroller-based circuit to monitor and record the values of temperature,
humidity, and sunlight of the natural environment that are continuously modified
and controlled in order optimize them to achieve maximum plant growth and yield.
PIC 16F877A controller is used. It communicates with the a variety of sensor
modules in order to control the light, aeration and drainage process efficiently
inside a greenhouse by actuating a cooler, fogger, dripper and lights respectively
according to the necessary condition of the crops.

3. Eldhose.K.A, Rosily Antony, Mini.P.K, Krishnapriya.M.N, Neenu.M. Introducing

this system can help in increasing the cultivation in a controlled environment.
Greenhouse environment, used to grow plants under controlled climatic conditions
for efficient production, forms an important part of the agriculture and horticulture
sectors. Appropriate environmental conditions are necessary for optimum plant
growth, improved crop yields, and efficient use of water and other resources.
Automating the data acquisition process of the soil conditions and various climatic
parameters that govern plant growth allows information to be collected with less
labor requirements. Existing EMSs are bulky, very costly, difficult to maintain
and less appreciated by the technologically less skilled work-force. This project is
designed using world’s most powerful microcontroller PIC 16F877A where the
temperature, humidity, soil moisture and illumination conditions are analysed.
Feng Chen, Yong-Ning Tang, and Ming-Yu Shen Their paper proposes a
model-free coordination control approach for greenhouse environmental factors
based on Q-learning. Coordination control policy is found through systematic

7
4. interaction with the dynamic environment to achieve optimal control for
greenhouse climate with the control cost constraints. In order to decrease

5. systematic trial-and-error risk and reduce the computational complexity in

Q-learning algorithm, case-based reasoning (CBR) is seamlessly incorporated into
the Q-learning process. The experimental results demonstrate that this approach is
practical, highly effective and efficient.

6. Ibrahim Al-Adwan and Munaf S.N. Al-D. The system consists of a number of
local stations and a central station. The local stations are used to measure the
environmental parameters and to control the operation of controlled actuators to
maintain climate parameters at predefined set points. For each local station a PIC
Microcontroller is used to store the instant values of the environmental parameters,
send them to the central station and receive the control signals that are required for
the operation of the actuators. The communication between the local stations and
the central station is achieved via ZigBee wireless modules

7. Stipanicev D. & Marasovic J. [6] Proposed networked embedded greenhouse

monitoring and control based on simple embeded web servers and 1-wire protocol
for conecting sensors and actuators is described. Hardware and software
architecture of embedded web servers is analysed and the experimental results of
monitoring and control of laboratory greenhouse is presented.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

The economy of many countries depends on agriculture. To achieve the best

quality from this research, it is important to focus on some vital characteristics such as
the appropriate amount of electricity as well as water supply and a suitable schedule
for irrigation of crops. Farmers are facing problems in meeting these standards,
especially those living in poverty. This project looks into developing a plant that
could be controlled through mobile application.
This system will work to minimize the number of workers in a crop field,
control & save water and electricity. Increase agricultural production using small
quantities of water; minimize manual intervention in watering operations with
increasing watering speed and preserving plants from fungi. All these features make
these research sustainable options to be considered to improve the Agriculture and
irrigation efficiency.

9
OBJECTIVES

1. The main objective is to provide an automatic watering system and

controlling the environment of green house by a plant as a sample crop into
the greenhouse demonstration.

2. To provide convenience in accessing the system from anywhere at any time.

.
3. To Improve crop quality.,

4. To develop system that automatically regulates the moisture of the soil.

10
WORKING

The stepper motor is driven by a current driver, ULN2003. The other sensors
that are used in the project are temperature sensor, humidity sensor and soil moisture
level sensor. These sensors are implemented to measure the temperature, relative
humidity and the soil moisture level respectively, of the greenhouse.
The values detected by the sensor are displayed on an LCD display which
enables the farmer or the person accessing the greenhouse to monitor the values of the
respective sensors.
With respect to the crops or plants grown, certain thresholds are defined for
the values of the temperature, humidity and soil moisture level, if these threshold
values are crossed, then, the system will automatically take some necessary action to
bring it down to the allowable level or value which is pre-programmed in the Arduino
Controller.
For example, when the temperature of the greenhouse crosses the threshold
temperature then, a fan is automatically switched on inside the greenhouse. Similarly,
when the soil moisture content is below certain threshold, the sprinkler automatically
gets activated and the plants are watered. And Increase in Humidity also results in
opening of rooftop for atmospheric air.
