programmed according to: suitable for nearly all room conditions (with
- TIME the exception of the explosion-risk situations)
- PUMP PLM can be fixed on the unit by means of
- VOLUM the proper support, it is also possible to
- START mount it on the wall.
Description
The ENT key is used to access the edit mode and confirm the selection after a choice is made.
The + and – keys are used to vary the numerical values when these are selected, or to move
from one selection to another ( + moves to the left, – moves to the right).
The CLR key is used to reset the numerical parameter in use.
The ESC key is used to exit from a menu.
The F key is a key which assumes a special function not provided by the other keys, depending
on circumstances (e.g. in the TIME mode it is used to select the days of the week).
The MAN key allows variations to be made to the functions (pilot, system, etc.) or the cycle (to
skip a phase or end regeneration); the functions vary depending on whether the service or
regeneration mode is current
The START key is used to start regeneration in manual mode.
Before these operation please be sure The timer can be installed on the unit by mean
that PLM is disconnected from power of the support installed in front of the hydraulic
feed pilot.

Connections
The procedures for connection to the various parts which complete the equipment must be
carried out in accordance with the connections described in the relative section; taking special
care over the power supply connection.
Buffer battery
When putting the device into operation, the batteries which allow the clock to operate with
no power supply for a period of about 12 months must be activated.
Underneath the display/keypad panel, the equipment contains housings for 2 type AAA
batteries; if these are not already fitted, obtain two batteries and insert them in the correct
direction, then switch the jumper JP1 (BATTERY) from OFF to ON.
PLM may be employed for different units, so a proper program has to be set.
Therefore a service editor has been activated, that only qualified technicians are entitled to handle,
since a mistake in the setting of the unit might generate problems. PLM can be set as soon as it is
switched on: pressing F and ENT , and + and - , you will be able to select the type of unit..
Press ENT to select the mode of operation, then decide whether one or two unit will be in
operation.
When the unit is in service, you can enter this editor pressing F and ENT for more than 10
seconds (press F first, then ENT otherwise you will enter the normal editor.
- Press F and ENT together, feed the timer.
Keep pressed more than 10 seconds, until the timer displays: CULLIGAN - «SELECT TYPE».
- Connect Timer PLM.
- Press touch F and ENT (before F then ENT ) Pressing more than 10” «SELECT TYPE»
will be displayed.
Now you are in the programming menu.
- Press touch + and - and select the unit required between the available ones:

Use the ESC key to exit from the programming mode, saving its data.
In the example shown above, the system 1 (TIME1) will start regeneration in condition (1) at 12.30 on
Monday, Tuesday and Sunday.

1. Excitation of input 1 or 2, which triggers the start of the regeneration cycle of the system relating
to the input chosen;

3. Pressing of the START key, after which the user can choose which system to start up by
selecting it with the + and - keys.
When a start input contact is closed, the system will start the regeneration cycle relating to the
chosen input, system 1 with IN1 and system 2 with IN2.
The cycle relating to the second system only starts if the 2 systems mode is active.
The regeneration cycle is also started when a preset event occurs; the event varies depending on
the regeneration mode.
In TIME mode, the event considered is the reaching of a specific pre-programmed time.
In VOLUM mode the cycle starts when the counter reaches zero.
In PUMP mode the cycle starts when the set time reaches zero.
In START mode there are no pre-programmed events so the cycle can only be started by means
of the other 2 conditions.

use.
If inputs 1 or 2 are excited, the chosen system starts with no need to make further selections.
In TIME mode, 9 moments (for each system) can be set at which a regeneration cycle will be
started, in VOLUM mode regeneration starts when the counter reaches 0, and the same applies in
PUMP mode. In START mode, regeneration can only be started by pressing the START key.
During the working operating phase, the top line of the display shows the operating mode of the
device and the second the various phases (BW, BR, etc.), the relative time still left and the current

The only maintenance required is when the batteries run out, indicated by the device itself. The
average battery lifetime is about one year, but ambient conditions, temperature and humidity affect
their durability.
When the message «BATTERY LOW» appears, the user still has about one week (during which the
control unit operates normally) to change the batteries. The batteries must be changed with the
control device receiving power; open the lid, undo the 4 screws which secure the front panel and
change the two batteries on the back.
There is no danger involved in handling the front panel since the voltage present is very low
and not hazardous; take care not to touch the bottom circuit board which receives the mains
power, since this might be dangerous.
Alarm Conditions
BATTERY LOW:
If this alarm occurs, the first line of the display shows the message BATTERY LOW; to change
the batteries without losing the data, do not disconnect the power supply.
ALARM PILOT:
If the pilot is not tripped after a time of about 50 seconds the message ALARM PILOT appears.
The program stops in this status with the alarm relay on until the ENT key is pressed; the
current cycle is cut off and the system returns to the service mode.
The same message is displayed after a forced conclusion of the regeneration cycle (EVENT
choice in the manual regeneration operations), and means that the pilot is not any longer in the
same phase that the PLM.
DATA ERROR:
Such message is displayed when, during verification, a discrepancy in the operation is
detected. In the operation settings
Cycle Memory
If the power supply fails during performance of a regeneration phase, when the power is restored the
control unit will restart from the point where the interruption occurs, restoring the previous outputs.

A Maximum permissible flow rate for limited periods of time, in order to attain trouble-free
operation of the water meter in the respect of maximum permissible error percentage and

B It corresponds to half of the maximum flow rate. It is used to size the meter.
C It is the flow rate from which any water meter must be operated within the maximum error
percentage (± 2%). It is established as a function of the nominal flow rate.
D Minimum flow rate required for the operation of the water meter upon a constant feed pressure
