What is Recovery?
In computing, data recovery is a process of retrieving inaccessible, lost, corrupted, damaged or
formatted data from secondary storage, removable media or files, when the data stored in
them cannot be accessed in a normal way. The data is most often salvaged from storage media
such as internal or external hard disk drives (HDDs), solid-state drives (SSDs), USB flash drives,
magnetic tapes, CDs, DVDs, RAID subsystems, and other electronic devices.
Recovery may be required due to physical damage to the storage devices or logical damage to
the file system that prevents it from being mounted by the host operating system (OS).
• Virus Attacks
• Natural Disaster
Maintaining the integrity of data: Following an error, a region must restore the data to a
consistent known state with a minimal loss of updated data.
Minimizing the effects of errors on end users: Where possible, an error that affects only one
end user, one application, or one database must not cause the whole region to terminate.
Furthermore, if processing for one end user is forced to stop prematurely, the region must be
able to back out current database updates that were performed by that end user.
Restoring services as quickly as possible: If processing for the whole region terminates, many
end users can have their updating work interrupted. On a subsequent region startup, the region
must back out only those transaction updates that were in process (in-flight) at the time of the
error. This makes restart quicker, and reduces the amount of data that the end user must
reenter.
Techniques of Data Recovery
Overwritten Data
When a file is deleted from the Windows operating system, the deleted files are considered as
free space by the system. So when you install a program or copy a file to your system, it
overwrites the lost files and makes recovery impossible. Therefore, when you face a data loss
situation stop using your system or hard drive to prevent further damage to the lost or deleted
data.
Example of Data Recovery Using Software
Recovery Situations:
• Car be used to restore permanently deleted Files, from removable devices etc..
Recuva
Recuva is a data recovery program for windows. It
is site to recover files that have beer
"permanently" deleted. The program can also be
used to recover files deleted from US13 flask
drives, memory cards etc.

Macroscopic Technique
• MFM is derived From scanning probe microscopy (SPM) and uses a sharp magnetic
tip attacked to a Flexible cantilever for analyst's. • An image of the field at the surface is
formed by moving the tip across the surface and measuring the force.
