This document summarizes a research paper on the effectivity of the Learning Resource Center (LRC) for Grade 11 TVL students at Rafael L. Lazatin Memorial High School. The paper found that the majority of respondents indicated that learning materials and equipment at the LRC were available. It also found that most respondents felt the LRC was convenient. However, some respondents noted that the LRC space was not always large enough or that computers were not always accessible. The paper concludes that the LRC is generally an effective facility that helps TVL students with schoolwork by providing sources for research.

The Effectivity of Learning Resource Center
to Grade 11 TVL Students

ABSTRACT

School facilities can be very helpful to students it plays a big role in every student’s’ lives.
Learning Resource Center’s objective is to raise school libraries into more technical
standards. The purpose of this research is to determine the effectivity of Learning Resource
Center to Grade 11 TVL students. Quantitative Research were used in this study to measure
the numerical data that was gathered using the questionnaires as a method of Research
Instrument. The availability of the learning materials and equipment and how Learning
Resource Center is convenient for TVL students were the main point in the Results and
Discussion.
A place where students can read, study and use learning materials like books and

computer is a very important facility in a school. School libraries are then considered one of the

most important resources within educational facilities. The need to develop school libraries is

urgent in that, on the one hand there is a need to convey information via a wide diversity of

technologies and resources, and on the other hand, there is a myriad of new teacher and student

roles to support. Within this view, came the project of learning centers. Learning Resource

Center’s objective is to raise school libraries to a more technical and international standards. The

purpose of a resource center is to advance the learning experience of students and teachers in any

educational sector. Learning resources center's general aim is to ensure learning educational

suitable environment that allows learner benefit from any kind of learning resources. The ideal

Learning Resource Center has 3 major parts. It is the standard for every resource center to have

self-learning auditorium. This part of the resource center includes the following: Reception and

visitors serving area where they can stay for a short period of time. Self-learning area this is the

pat of resource center where they can read and gather information. Under the self-learning area

there are two parts– Electronic learning area – Area when can be maintained learning resources

like books, journals, thesis, etc. And lastly the Catalogues area, this is the part of the resource

center where students can use computer for research purposes and other things like searching for

information on the internet.

Method

This chapter presents the type of research, respondents, sampling design, research

instrument, data collection procedure and data analysis.

Type of Research

The researchers used Quantitative Research as the type of research, to emphasize objective

measurements and the statistical, mathematical, or numerical analysis of data collected through

polls, questionnaires, and surveys or by manipulating pre-existing statistical data using

computational techniques.

Respondents

The researchers chose the Grade 11 TVL students of Rafael L. Lazatin Memorial High

School as the respondents for this research This is the reason why researchers rely on sampling

techniques. The population of the study is all Grade 11 TVL students of Rafael L. Lazatin

Memorial High School (Senior High School). In order to be able to know the effectivity of learning

resource center to every student specially to Grade 11 TVL students.

Research Instrument

The researchers made their own questionnaires comprising dichotomous type of question

for the study. For the validation, the questionnaires were checked by the validators if all the items

are valid, grammatically correct, and clear; if all of the items are relevant to the research problem;
and if the questionnaire was not too long. After all this process, some words and questionnaires’

layout are changed. The copies of the questionnaires were then distributed personally by the

researcher to the respondent and also retrieve it personally.

Data Collection Procedure

The method of collecting data used in this study was normative survey where it concerned

with looking into the commonality of some elements. Responses can be analyzed with quantitative

method. Since this study is a quantitative research, this method is the most appropriate to use in

gathering data. The instrument used to collect data was the questionnaire. This was used because

it gathers data fasters than any other method which also available. Besides, the respondents were

grade 11 TVL students so this method will suit for their time and schedules. They could answer

the questionnaire with ease.

As soon as the protocols were done, the researchers distributed the survey forms to all the

respondents in this study in the form of filling what is asked. The survey forms are collected

afterwards and check if it is answered properly. The researchers tallied the data acquired

immediately to gather informations needed in the data analysis. All survey forms keep confidential

and only the researchers who’s having it.

Results and Discussion

After thorough and careful investigation and systematic data gathering procedure, the data

are hereby analyzed as follows:

Figure 1.0 shows that 68% of the respondents answered that Leaning Resource Center’s

equipments and learning materials are available and accessible for Grade 11 TVL students like

books, modules, journals, computers and printers. While 32% of the respondents answered that

Learning Resource Center is not always available or the respondents may for the remaining 32%

of the Grade 11 TVL student’s population.

The figure 2.0 shows that 67% of the population of the respondents answered that the

Learning Resource Center is convenient for the activities done inside the Resource Center. It shows

that the computers, modules and books can be used with less trouble. It also presents that the

Resource Center is large enough to accommodate the students. While 33% of the respondents

answered that the Resource Center is occasionally not convenient for the other respondents.

The researcher also included one question that requires the respondents’ recommendation

regarding on making the Learning Resource Center more functional.

The most common answer to this question is to expand the area, add more computers and

learning materials. These are the answers that we gathered in our data collection procedure. Some

of the students also answered that making the printing price cheaper would be really helpful for

TVL students.

TVL students. The learning materials and equipment in the facility are functional and available for

students. It can be concluded that the Learning Resource Center is convenient for students because

they can use it with ease and less effort. The LRC helps the students with their school works when

they need a reliable and credible sources they can just go and search the Learning Resource Center

for information present in books, modules or the internet.s
