CONCEPT OR PRINCIPLE

The respiratory system, which consists of the nose, mouth, trachea, bronchus and lungs, is involved in getting oxygen into
to the body and removing carbon dioxide, which is a waste product of respiration, from the body. Cigarette smoking
produces many harmful compounds which can lead to breathing difficulties and respiratory ailments such as bronchitis,
emphysema and lung cancer. These diseases can greatly affect the quality of life of individuals and are largely preventable
since it is the result of a lifestyle choice.
