TECHNIQUE (QB-410)
Method of Pre-cleaning Surface oxidation on the O.D. of the tube shall be removed with the use of an abrasive cloth
for a distance slightly more than the depth of the fitting socket (Reference Attachment #1).
Method of Post-brazing Cleaning: Brazed surface shall be cleaned with Trisodium Phosphate (solution strength
should be approximately 1/2 cup of Trisodium Phosphate to one gallon of water).
Type of Flame: Carborizing (1X to 2X flame adjustments)
Torch Tip Size: #5
Purge: Nitrogen gas (99.99%) shall be used as a purge gas with a flow rate in the range of 5 to 20 SCFH. The purge
shall be maintained while brazing and until cool to touch. This is to ensure that no oxidation forms on the I.D.
of the tube and fitting (Reference Attachment #1).
