DESIGN CALCULATION FOR 70M 3/DAY CAPACITY SEWERAGE TREATMENT

PLANT BASED ON FAB MEDIA AERATION PROCESS

 DESIGN BASIS

The STP shall be designed based on the following parameters

[1] RAW WATER CHARACTERISTIC : -

 Daily average flow : 70 M3/Day

 PH : 5.5 – 8.5

 BODS : 350 mg/l

 S. Solids : 250 mg/l

 COD : 600 mg/l

 Oil and Grease : 50 mg/l

[2] EFFLUENT DISCHARGE STANDARD AFTER TREATMENT: -

 PH : 6.0 – 8.5

 BODS : Less than 20 mg/l

 S. Solids : Less than 10 mg/l

 COD : Less than 100 mg/l

 Oil and Grease : Less than 10 mg/l


 PART – I: - R.C.C. TANKS

[1] EQUALIZATION CUM COLLECTION TANK: -

 Total flow = 70M3/Day

 Average flow on hourly basis = 70

 Peak flow = 5 times of average flow

 Dimension of Tank = 8.4M x 4.0M x 2.2M

 BOD = 350 mg/l

 BOD Load in Kg = Total flow x BOD Concentration

 AIR REQUIRED FOR BIO LOGICAL TREATMENT

 Total flow of waste water = 70 KL/Day

 BOD to be removed = 350 mg/l

 Total BOD to be removed (in Kgs) = 70 x 350 Kg =

 Oxygen required per Kg of BOD to be
removed = 1.4 Kgs / Kg BOD

 Total oxygen required = 1.4 x 24.5 Kgs / day


= 34.3 Kgs / day

Say = 35.0 Kgs / day

 Considering oxygen transfer efficiency as 12%, 21% oxygen content in atmospheric


air & 1.18 density of air.

 The total air requirement = Total oxygen required

 Hours of operation = 14 Hrs.

 Capacity = Total Flow
