Backup Instructions for OPIGIMAC/Integris Program and Database

a: Printout any desired reports (hard-copy of historical data)

b: Backup the current OPIGIMAC/Integris software files:

 Create a backup folder in a suitable location on your system's hard drive (name as desired –
i.e. “OPI Backup”)
 Copy the C:\OPIGI folder/files into your new backup folder and add the current date to the
copied “OPIGI” folder (i.e. “year month day – OPIGI”)

c: Create another folder within your backup folder and label it “year month day – SQL DB Files” then
copy the OPI SQL database files into this new folder:

Note – Before the database files can be backed up it will be necessary to ensure that these files are not
currently in use, otherwise Windows will not allow them to be copied. There are a number of ways to
accomplish this but the easiest way and the only one that seems to be common to all versions of
OPIGIMAC/Integris is as follows:

 Open the “SQL Server Configuration Manager”

 Left click on“Start” Menu

 Select “All Programs”
 Select “Microsoft SQL Server 2005” (or “Microsoft SQL Server 2008” depending on
your version)
 Select “Configuration Tools”
 Select and left click on “SQL Server Configuration Manager”
 The following window (see Fig.01) should appear

Fig.01

 If the right hand pane does not yet appear as above, left click on “SQL Server Services”
(or “SQL Server 2005 Services” – depending on your version of SQL) in the left pane

Note – For versions of OPIGIMAC/Integris earlier than 2008c the line shown highlighted in the right
pane of Fig.01will read “SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS)”, but for versions of OPIGIMAC/Integris 2008c
and newer the highlighted line in the left pane will read “SQL Server (OPISQLEXPRESS)”. If for
some reason you have both it is likely that your software was once upgraded from a version prior to
2008c without having the original database removed.

 Right click on “SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS)”/“SQL Server (OPISQLEXPRESS)” - if

you have both select “SQL Server (OPISQLEXPRESS)”
 A drop-down menu will appear, select and left click on “Stop”
 Once the designation under the right pane heading “State” shows “Stopped” the
database files can be copied

 Open “Windows Explorer” and select the following:

 Select the primary drive (typically “Local Disc (C:)”)

 Select “Program Files”
 Select “Microsoft SQL Server”
 Select the “MSSQL.x” where x is the highest number present (in some cases there may
be multiple MSSQL. folders each ending in a different number – typically there will
only be “MSSQL.1”) – alternatively you may see “MSSQL10.OPISQLEXPRESS”
 Select “MSSQL” (or “MSSQL10.OPISQLEXPRESS”)
 Select “Data”
 At this point you should have files listed as shown below in Fig.02
Fig.02

 Copy the files “OPISQL.mdf” and “OPISQL_log.ldf” (shown highlighted in the right
pane of Fig.02) into the “year month day – SQL DB Files” backup folder you created
previously in “Step” “b”
 You have now successfully backed up your OPIGIMAC/Integris software and database
but you will need to restart your SQL Database before restarting Integris – please see
“Step” “d”

d: Restart the OPI SQL database files:

 If closed, reopen the “SQL Server Configuration Manager” and:

 Left click on“Start” Menu

 Select “All Programs”
 Select “Microsoft SQL Server 2005”
 Select “Configuration Tools”
 Select and left click on “SQL Server Configuration Manager”
 The following window (see Fig.03) should appear
Fig.03

 If the right hand pane does not yet appear as above, left click on “SQL Server Services”
(or “SQL Server 2005 Services” – depending on your version of SQL) in the left pane

Note – Again, for versions of OPIGIMAC/Integris earlier than 2008c the line shown highlighted in the
right pane of Fig.01will read “SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS)”, but for versions of OPIGIMAC/Integris
2008c and newer the highlighted line in the left pane will read “SQL Server (OPISQLEXPRESS)”.

 Right click on “SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS)”/“SQL Server (OPISQLEXPRESS)” –

again, if you have both select “SQL Server (OPISQLEXPRESS)”
 A drop-down menu will appear, select and left click on “Start”
 Once the designation under the right pane heading “State” shows “Running” you may
exit the “SQL Server Configuration Manager” and restart your “OPIGIMAC/Integris”
software.
